The Festivities Begin

"I've never seen so many digimon in one place. The fact that the palace is open to all of Coraggio as well makes it even more bustling." Kemba said. Ban nodded, "Yes, I like parties!"



"Get your hot fruit here! Warm bananas from the rich jungles of Palus!" Theos nose twitched. That smelled really good he would have to come back and try some. "The finest strongmen in all the world! See them now for just one hundred units!" Theos doubted anyone was stronger than Cora. Though he chuckled just the same in amusement.


"I was worried it would rain today, Raja planned it well." Kemba said. "Yes, the rainy season ended." Theos looked to Don and nodded, "What is that?" Kemba asked.



"I don't really know...but it tastes good. Vendor said it was an insect from the human world." Theos would have to try it later. It didn't look too bad. Though Kemba didn't seem to take the thought well, "Where is Kaa?" Ban asked. Don shrugged, "No clue. He found a foreign clothing shop. My guess is forming some sort of disguise." Theos chuckled wondering what he would come up with.


"That may attract even more attention." Theos had to agree it probably would.


Theos ran up to him in between the guards. He smiled his tail wagging as he sat beside him and started waving at the digimon as well. There was so many digimon he had never seen before.

"Has Jared and Max come by yet," Theos questioned casing Cora a sidelong glance. With either answer he would still be smiling. 

Kemba watched Theos run off when he noticed Cora and followed suit alongside Ban and Don. They made their way through the guards to meet with Cora, "Good afternoon! Thanks for coming! Welcome to Coraggio!" Cora repeated. He hadn't noticed the children yet until Theos spoke up.

"Has Jared and Max come by yet," Cora looked down at Theos who greeted everyone as well. Ban and Don joining in, Kemba watched everyone his sword always at the ready. "My goodness! Theos! You look like the spitting image of Midas! I suppose our royal stylist had plenty of practice! Kemba, you look fantastic too! I almost did not recognize you!" Cora said laughing.

Kemba bowed his head, "Thank you Cora. I wanted to look way more presentable, my long hair is good for the winter but here in the desert it doesn't serve much purpose." Cora nodded, "Well you succeeded for sure!" Cora looked back to Theos.

"Max and Jared have not come by here yet, though I did excuse myself a bit to go potty." Cora said. Ban laughed at Cora's phrasing, Don took a bite of his caramelized insect and devoured the whole thing leaving just the stick. "Not to bad." Don said.

"Are you excited about tonight?" Cora asked the boys, "I don't know about excited but definitely nervous." Kemba replied. "Aw you'll be fine!" Cora encouraged.

"Pssssst!" A whisper called from behind them. Everyone turned to see a cloaked figure in the shadows, It had different colored clothes that were so bright it could outshine the sun. "It's me...Kaa! Is it safe to come over there!?" He asked, endearingly, only Kaa's front half was covered. His spines, legs and tail were all very much visible.

"Kaa...what the heck are you doing son?" Cora questioned. "I believe he is hiding from the swarm of women hounding after him." Don said sarcastically. "They have a fan club!" Ban added. Kemba laughed. "Son, no one is going to chase after you now take off that ridiculous disguise and come over here." Cora said choking back his laughter.

Kaa did as instructed, anxiously looking around. Don laughed, "You're such a nerd." Kaa glared at him, "Coming from you speckles. That's priceless." Kaa retorted and Don shrugged it off with a smile.

"I am actually waiting here for someone myself." Cora looked down to Theos, "As much as I'd love to see Midas stroll through these gates I know its unlikely. You've never met him because he was away on a very secret and lengthy mission." Cora began. Immediately, the boys knew who their father was referring to thanks to the mirror world.

"We have communicated by letter since my crowning and I have recently learned from his latest letter that his mission has come to a close and he is returning today to enjoy the festivities of Theo's coronation." Cora mentioned. "He is Captain of the royal guard, and my mentor, Cole the Victory Greymon." He said. The boys pretended not to know that name. Don having trouble hiding that fact as memories of that day rushed to his mind. Kaa snickered at his brothers sudden complexion change.

"What's wrong Don?" Cora asked, "Nothing father! Just experiencing heat flashes is all!" Don answered nervously. "I'll say." Kaa replied. "I'm excited for you to meet him! I've told him about all of you in our letter exchanges." Cora said.

"Where was he all this time?" Kemba asked, "Scomparsa. A neighboring city that isn't all that friendly. He was there to watch their movements should they try and act against us. He has been there for quite a few decades. He has not seen Coraggio in an awfully long time." Cora responded.

Theos chuckled at his complimenting words. It was true Midas and him did look a lot alike. He smiled at him and continued to wave. 


"Max and Jared have not come by here yet, though I did excuse myself a bit to go potty." Theos also chuckled at the word. It was such a childish and innocent word.


"Are you excited about tonight?" Cora asked the boys, "I don't know about excited but definitely nervous." Kemba replied. "Aw you'll be fine!" Cora encouraged.



"Pssssst!" Theos looked back at Kaa with a raised eyebrow. "It's me...Kaa! Is it safe to come over there!?"

"I'm sure he'll be happy to get home to his family," Theos said looking to Cora with a smile. "So now that his mission is complete does that mean Scomparsa is no longer hostile," Theos questioned. He could do without a lot of drama that would come with dealing with a hostile country. He'd much rather just live his life peacefully as is.

"I'm sure he'll be happy to get home to his family, So now that his mission is complete does that mean Scomparsa is no longer hostile," Cora gave Theos a half smile, "Cole's family in Coraggio was only his mother, who perished from old age a few years ago. He does however have a family that he took with him from Scomparsa." Cora looked up to greet more people as they passed by. Some travelers were taking pictures of the mighty king.

"As for our neighbor's hostility, Cole insisted on telling me that in person." Cora looked back with an apologetic smile, "I know I said I wouldn't do any of my kingly duties today, it will be just this one thing I promise." Cora said. Kemba shrugged away the thought, "Cora, we're not so petty that we would be offended that you're working today. Sometimes a king has to do what a king has to do."

"Oh my goodness!" A familiar voice said hobbling through the gates. Theos heart surely fluttering at the tone, "Is that my grandson I see all nice and proper looking?" The old Jyagamon said walking up to the group. Cora and the triplets looked to him, his small size was impressive. To Cora, Jared looked like a simple pebble, "Kemba also looks so different! Quite the looker you two have become! Imagine my surprise when a liaison of King Cora's court showed up at my doorstep to announce a grand old party for Prince Theos and I was formally invited!" Jared said moving in to give Theos and Kemba a hug. Kemba leaned in to hug Jared, being taller then the potato digimon.

Kemba was happy to see the old digimon still kicking strong, "It's good to see you Jared." Kemba said. "So this is Jared then?" Kaa said looking at the stone digimon. Ban sniffed at Jared seeing a Jyagamon for the first time in his life was curious. Don pulled at Ban's tail to get him away from Jared's personal space. "Stop it Ban." Don scolded, Ban frowned and backed away.

"Oh it's quite alright, I don't mind it none." Jared chuckled. "I imagined Theos's grandpa to be small, but your size is unexpected. Everything must look super big." Kaa stated. "Well, when you're born this height, you take others of your size for granted when something is out of reach!" Jared said laughing.

"Thank you for answering our summons Jared." Cora said with a smile. "Oh it was the only option for me your majesty. This here is my grandson and I raced here as fast as I could to see what he's made of himself in these past six months." Jared looked back to Theos.

"A Prince huh? I read the letter you sent with the invitation explaining everything and I just can't believe it! That little ignorant, innocent boy who showed up in front of Bai Hu palace is actually a prince. It makes this old 'mon proud but even if you up and become a king, you're still always going to be my grandson!" Jared chuckled.

"Cole's family in Coraggio was only his mother, who perished from old age a few years ago. He does however have a family that he took with him from Scomparsa." There was Theos answer he was looking for the clue about his mother. It was a shame they never got to meet her. 


"As for our neighbor's hostility, Cole insisted on telling me that in person." Cora looked back with an apologetic smile, "I know I said I wouldn't do any of my kingly duties today, it will be just this one thing I promise." Theos just smiled. Theos ran up to him happily circling before giving him a light hearted cheek rub, "Kemba also looks so different! Quite the looker you two have become! Imagine my surprise when a liaison of King Cora's court showed up at my doorstep to announce a grand old party for Prince Theos and I was formally invited!" Theos hugged him back his head resting across his shoulders.


"It's good to see you Jared." Kemba said. "So this is Jared then?" Theos broke the hug nodding. This was his first friend after leaving the mountains. "Stop it Ban." Don scolded, Ban frowned and backed away.



"Oh it's quite alright, I don't mind it none." Jared chuckled. "I imagined Theos's grandpa to be small, but your size is unexpected. Everything must look super big." Kaa stated. "Well, when you're born this height, you take others of your size for granted when something is out of reach!" Jared said laughing.

He couldn't wait to tell him about everything in more detail. "Did Max travel with you," Theos asked. He was sure Max would also be impressed by the change.

He wondered if word reached W.A.D.A. as well. He didn't doubt it. If Max reported to know a prince he wondered if he would be reassigned here to keep relations. That would be amazing. Theos doubted Jared would want to leave his home entirely for this place but he would be treated well if he did. He wouldn't have to worry about a thing Theos would see to that.

"I still have a long way to go before that happens, You'll always be my grandpa," Jared laughed and pet Theos on the head as he nuzzled him. "Did Max travel with you," Jared shook his head, "No, I did not. He received the invitation you sent same as I but could not leave Bai Hu to attend. He wanted me to apologize on his behalf and he gave me a present to give to you." Jared sat down and reached into a small pouch he had strapped to his belly. He pulled out a small cube and placed it on the floor.

"Let's see....press....this button." Jared said pressing a switch. The small cube emitted a holographic image of Max, "Hello Theos, or is it your majesty now? Ha ha. Anyway, this is a recording I made for you since I could not attend your coronation. It's a lot harder for me to leave my Bai Hu post lately and it was on a day I did not have off. I am so proud of the digimon you've become! Both you and Kemba have made great strides since the start of your journey! I wish you both eternal happiness and that your coronation will be the best party Invio has ever seen!" Max said.

Ban leaned over to Kaa and Don, "What is that little glow-e person?" He whispered. Kaa and Don shrugged, "Another one of Theos and Kemba's friends? It's so tiny..." Kaa whispered back. Kemba laughed at the triplets, "No need to whisper, it's not a real person just the depiction of one. That is Max, a human and he is using what they call a hologram to deliver a message." Kemba said. The triplets looked interested and looked back to the hologram.

"I'll be thinking of you two the entire day and I have good news! I have also petitioned that W.A.D.A. and Coraggio open up channels of communication and my bosses are all for it! W.A.D.A. would be more than happy to befriend the Kingdom of Coraggio and assist the growth of your kingdom if King Cora would have it. We should have an agent showing up to discuss that very thing in the coming weeks. Once that happens, I'll request a transfer to the Coraggio unit! Anyway, I'm reaching the end of this recording so with my final seconds I want to wish you a bright and happy future with Kemba!" Max finished and waved before the hologram turned off.

Jared picked up the cube and put it back in his pouch, "There ya have it." He said with a smile.

Cora crossed his arms, "Humans huh? Not sure how to feel about W.A.D.A. wanting to partner with our kingdom. We've done well without the aid of humans this long. My father always said they were untrustworthy, that is one thing we actually agreed upon." Cora said.

"Max is a good human. He helped us a lot in the mines. You can trust him." Kemba stated. Cora looked at Kemba and smiled, "Well it's more of a political thing...I'll think on it more another time." Cora said.

"Well...I'm glad I made it here in time! It was days walk ya know! I haven't migrated in over six decades! I thought I was going to drop dead a few times, my legs are killing me." Jared said shaking out each of his legs. "You should have hitched a ride with someone Jared." Kemba said.

"Truth be told, I wanted to see if I could still travel long distances! Ho ho ho. I'm glad I did it at least once before I go from this world! I will most definitely be hitching a ride back to Bai Hu though!" Jared said laughing. Cora nodded, "I could arrange for your return when you're ready to do so." Jared bowed his head.

"Oh your majesty that is much to kind of you! I thank you!" Jared said. "Now I should probably find an inn or somewhere to rest! I don't want to be falling asleep when you get yer crown!" Jared said. "Perhaps you'd like to stay in our castle?" Kemba offered.

"Oh dear me no! I could not intrude!" Jared said. "It's not like we don't have the room." Kaa said, Don nodded, "Yea! You could stay in the castle with us!" Ban chimed in, his tail beating the ground.

Theos was a bit disappointed but perked at the mention of a gift. He watched Jared with a cocked head.

It felt like forever ago that they had left Bai Hu. "For now though lets go enjoy ourselves," Theos tail wagged happily.

"Well then I know just the inn that could have your company." Another familiar voice said as Kim, the inn keep's daughter, appeared on Kemba's head. Kemba jumped being startled by her sudden appearance, "Geez Kim! Don't do that! I nearly had a heart attack!" Kemba said. "You give the phrase scaredy cat it's meaning." She said her eyes rotating to view anyone.

Over the past six months, Kemba and Theos had kept in touch with the family of Chamelemon. "It's good to see you again Kemba, Prince Theos." Kim said, she had grown since their first meeting. She now filled the entirety of Kemba's noggin and still had some more growing to do. She'd have to eventually stop climbing on people, but she'd milk it until then.

"Wow. You guys are cute, I'm almost jealous." Kim said when she got a good look at Kemba and Theos. "Kim, where are your parents?" Kaa asked, "They're working of course! A party this big, there isn't a room open in our inn. They had to hire extra staff to keep up with the extra flow of tourists." Kim said.

"If there is no room, wouldn't that pose an issue for Jared?" Don pointed out. Kim shook her head, "Nope. We will definitely have a room for him. Free of charge." Kim said. "Free of charge you say? Would your parents be okay with that?" Kemba asked.

"Duh. Prince Theos's grandfather." Kemba chuckled. "Golly, I guess there is so great benefits to being royalty huh?" Jared chuckled. "I promise to sleep just enough to see you get crowned and then we can have dinner and spend the night for as long as you want." Jared said. Cora nodded, "Yes Jared, you'd be an honored guest at our table." Jared smiled, "I'm surprised you were able to write Theos! Guess the schooling here is something else." Don nodded. "Yes well, our teacher is good at what he does."

"You're such a sweet boy, but I will still have to decline the stay at your palace. It is much to big for me and I'd feel quite uncomfortable, plus with my age I'd have trouble moving about it." Jared said.

"Very much so," Theos said smiling. "So do you want to go rest up first," Theos asked Jared. He was sure Jared was tired. "Kim can show you there."

Jared nodded at Theos's question, "I do want to rest. To get here on time, I traveled through the night of the desert. Plenty of hot stones to keep the freezing temperatures at bay." Jared said smiling. Kim crawled down Kemba and made her way on top of Jared, "I can show you to the Inn and get you a room." She said. "I would like that a lot little missy." Jared said.

"I just came to say hi to you guys when I spotted you. My folks still need me, so I'll see you tonight at the crowning ceremony." Kim said. Kemba nodded, "See you then Kim. Have a good rest Jared." Kemba replied. Jared moved in hugging Theos and Kemba once more, "Oh you two, I am so proud of you. I'll see you real soon!" Jared said releasing them and waving with his tail as Kim directed him to her inn.

"You know some really great people Theos." Kaa said, "Do I detect a bit of jealousy?" Don teased, "Of course I'm jealous, but I can share." Kaa said crossing his arms. Kemba smiled and patted his head, "You're still our baby brother. Don't worry." He said. Kaa gave a soft smile, and Ban frowned "I thought I was your baby brother?" He said. Don shook his head, "Oh Ban, Kemba and Theos see us all the same is Kemba's point." Ban blinked a few times processing the thought, "Oh...but I'm still your favorite right?" Ban asked.

"Now boys, don't hound them like usual. This is there special day, people will gather to them naturally. You can have them back in the morning." Cora said. The triplets bowed their heads, "Okaaaay." They said in unison. Cora looked out over the plaza, most everyone had set up and business was booming. The party was in full swing now and it was only noon, "Well...I think I've greeted all I could. I was hoping to see Cole but I'm sure when he arrives, he'll meet me in the palace." Cora turned and looked to them, "I'm going to head back inside. What will you do?" Cora asked.

"I do want to rest. To get here on time, I traveled through the night of the desert. Plenty of hot stones to keep the freezing temperatures at bay." Jared said smiling. Don't worry." He said. Kaa gave a soft smile, and Ban frowned "I thought I was your baby brother?" He said. Don shook his head, "Oh Ban, Kemba and Theos see us all the same is Kemba's point." Ban blinked a few times processing the thought, "Oh...but I'm still your favorite right?" Ban asked.



"Now boys, don't hound them like usual. This is there special day, people will gather to them naturally. You can have them back in the morning." Theos chuckled at the triplets, "Well...I think I've greeted all I could. I was hoping to see Cole but I'm sure when he arrives, he'll meet me in the palace." Cora turned and looked to them, "I'm going to head back inside. What will you do?" Cora asked.


"Explore a bit. There is plenty of food and entertainment. So we should want for not. We'll make sure to leave enough room for dinner and avoid the sweets," Theos said nudging Kemba teasingly. 

"Come on," Theos said leading them out into the stalls. There was indeed plenty to eat and see. Theos tried some hot food his taste buds tingling and as the others tried it he would laugh at their panting expressions. They visited the strong man and watched a circus. Large mammothmon balancing on balls and high flying renamon. A Jokermon ring master who fought with a saberleomon acting like it was a wild digimon. It was all very entertaining. 

Kemba was kept away from the sugary treats, thanks to Theos's nose finding them first. He was allowed however, by Theos's orders, to have a single lollipop which he was enjoying. Very very much. "This is soooooooo gooooooood." He said as he lapped it up.

"Then the Renamon was like WHOOSH and the Piemon was all goofy and the Saber Leomon was all RAAAAA!" Ban said excited from the show they had just watched, "Ban! I know! I watched the same thing!" Kaa said trying to stop him from leaping all around. "I know but it was sooooooooo greaaaaaaaaaaat!" Ban exclaimed.

"I will never understand Kemba's sugar fetish." Don said watching the sparkled eye'd lion almost in a daze as he licked. Kaa moved closer to Theos and looked to him, "Thanks for taking us with you Theos." Kaa said, "I thought you may have wanted just Kemba to tag a long on a day like today." He added.

Don sighed, "I'm fortunate he didn't otherwise I'd be stuck with you two again." His brothers glared at him, "Did you guys know it starts to taste like cherries!?" Kemba exclaimed, the triplets chuckled at him. It was funny to see Kemba act as a child when under the influence of sugar.

"We ate a lot of snack, saw the strongmen show and the circus....I wonder what else is around. It's impossible to see everything, everyone is spread throughout the city." Kaa said. "Perhaps we should see if Cole has arrived?" Don said, a sudden gleam crossing Kaa's eyes, "Maybe we can bathe with him again this time for real....and you can have him alllllllll to yourself." Don turned red. "Shut up!" He said chasing after Kaa who ran away laughing.

"IT TASTES LIKE ORANGE NOW!" Kemba yelled his purring becoming louder.

Ban shook his head, "I wonder if there are other fun things?" He asked.

Ban shook his head, "I wonder if there are other fun things?" He asked.


"I think i saw some games we could try," Theos said smiling. He knew Ban would love to try some. They could go look for Cole right before the coronation after all they would have to go inside to do both. 

Theos lead them towards some games lined against one wall. Stuffed animal prizes and other such trinkets for winning. There was a ball toss to try and a ring toss. Theos wasn't to bad at catching small baby coelamon with a paper net. He ended up giving the prize to Kemba. A small keychain that could be tied around his sword. A dangling crest of love at the end.
