"So I die.....if I don't leave the mountain when I did......in the end it was better wasn't it? Even if it doesn't feel that way.....at least we made them smile," Kemba looked up at Theos, and remained expressionless. Theos single choice to leave that mountain, kept him alive and made everyone's lives better...but their decisions just decided a different way for each person to die on the same day. It wasn't preventable. He was understanding now what Magi meant back in the room.
"What about my choice in the mines......was there any way I could have saved them both?" Kemba was curious about that as well. Magi shook his head, "That I do not know. When Dan passed, his progression of time ended. His fate ends where he dies, all other branches withered away." Magi looked at Theos. "It is very unlikely. If fate wanted Dan to die that day, nothing could prevent it." Magi answered.
"Though because I can only see the different events from your memories, this is all I can do. I cannot see the future either." Magi said.
Kemba stood and looked at Magi, "What about the war?" He asked. "Well....without the two of you showing up in Coraggio, Cora and his family aren't better off but you not meeting them has no negative impacts either. You only shown to brighten up everyone's lives." Magi waved his hand fast forwarding to the day of the coronation.
"Cole and Ike still come to Coraggio, and is greeted by Cora and his family. Ike is well received by the princes just as he was in our current existence. Cole tells Cora about how he murdered a Scomparsa prince in vengeance for his wife, King Dubal shows up but with a slight alteration...." Magi said pointing to the North Gate of Coraggio. Scomparsa's army is marching on an unsuspecting Coraggio.
"He didn't show up with an army!" Kemba said. "No, the coronation prevented that. With a massive amount of foreigners and merchants, Stall could not risk killing someone from a different nation and giving Coraggio allies." Magi watched as the Scomparsa army, backed by what looked like Cursed Exodus members invade the city.
The cries and screams of the townsfolk became the dominant thing they heard. Large fires erupted all over the city, and the air was filled with particles of dead and dying digimon. "In this timeline, everyone in the city except for a few lucky ones, are killed. Cora, Raja, Cole, myself and the boys are brought back to Scomparsa after Coraggio's overnight destruction. I cannot see what would have happened, but knowing what we know about that city....I do not doubt it bad." Magi said, the image of destruction and death remained for a moment and faded away at Magi's behest.
Kemba clenched his paw, to think the coronation had prevented this. Magi looked to the boys, "Do you understand how idiotic it is now for you both to blame yourselves? You are not at fault for any of the loss you endured. Nothing could be done to stop these things from happening." Magi sighed,
"I am sorry for making you see such horrible things again, but I needed to mend your hearts by showing you this truth."

Theos frowned at Magi's answer. It was set in stone....their deaths could not have been prevented. It made his heart ache all the more but the guilt.....it was fading.
"What about the war?" He asked. "Well....without the two of you showing up in Coraggio, Cora and his family aren't better off but you not meeting them has no negative impacts either. You only shown to brighten up everyone's lives." Magi waved his hand fast forwarding to the day of the coronation.

Cole tells Cora about how he murdered a Scomparsa prince in vengeance for his wife, King Dubal shows up but with a slight alteration...." Theos eyes widened.
"He didn't show up with an army!" Kemba said. "No, the coronation prevented that. With a massive amount of foreigners and merchants, Stall could not risk killing someone from a different nation and giving Coraggio allies." Theos fur bristled.
"In this timeline, everyone in the city except for a few lucky ones, are killed. Cora, Raja, Cole, myself and the boys are brought back to Scomparsa after Coraggio's overnight destruction. I cannot see what would have happened, but knowing what we know about that city....I do not doubt it bad." Every thing happened for a reason....their choices led them here for this reason alone. To prevent the destruction of Coraggio.
"Do you understand how idiotic it is now for you both to blame yourselves? You are not at fault for any of the loss you endured. Nothing could be done to stop these things from happening." Magi sighed, "I am sorry for making you see such horrible things again, but I needed to mend your hearts by showing you this truth."
"Thank you Magi," Theos spoke after a slight pause. "We are naive children still learning the ways of the world. Everything revolves around us......but in reality it doesn't," Theos gave Magi a small smile. "Your wisdom it has served countless people," Theos said grateful for his guidance truly.
"Let's go home," Theos said He had seen all he needed to see. He knew what he wanted to do and his wounds.....they were healing. Even if the truth saddened him a bit now he held no guilt.

"Thank you Magi, We are naive children still learning the ways of the world. Everything revolves around us......but in reality it doesn't," Magi smiled back at Theos. "Your wisdom it has served countless people,"
Kemba smiled, his fear and self pity had lifted and for the first time in a long time. He felt weightless. The blame he always held for himself had faded away and he owed it to Magi. "Let's go home," Magi nodded and placed his hands on their heads. Immediately, their vision went dark and when they opened their eyes, they were standing back in the bedroom.
Kemba looked at himself and then at Magi realizing they were back in their physical bodies. "There is one more thing I would like to tell you about saving Dan. It would have been possible to save him, but as I said...time is a fickle thing. If he was slated to die, and was prevented, then one of two things would happen." Magi said.
"Time wants to happen...and will stop at nothing to complete it's deadlines. Fate would kill another, in place of Dan...someone very close to him or, it would try again...and kill Dan in an even worse manner. So, what I want you both to do...is mourn your losses from now on...but do not blame yourselves...or each other. Live your lives to the very best of your ability, you will be better off for it. You both are centuries to young to be so caught up in such drama." Magi began to chuckle.
"Perhaps we should start a stage show and cast you both as drama queens...you've mastered that role it seems." Magi said poking fun at them. He took his hands and pushed Kemba and Theos close to the other, "The digimon you're looking at right now, the digimon you've lived your life for, is the digimon you need to grasp onto and never ever think about letting go again. Love offsets sorrow and there will be plenty more sorrow in the future for all of us...so you will need to have equal the love." Magi turned and headed for the balcony, levitating.
"You said that the good does not offset the bad, well, the way I see it...all you've ever done was good. Dan, Jared....and anyone else who may die in this war...they do it because they love you and died with smiles and happy memories. I'd say that is plenty good to offset the bad." Magi smiled and waved, "Good night Prince Theos...Lord Kemba." He flew off down the tower to the ground below to his chambers.
Kemba awkwardly stood there with a lesson learned, he felt as foolish as Magi told him he was. "Theos....I changed my mind. I don't want to leave your side anymore....or ever. I'm fine going to your mountain after the war....as long as I can be with you forever." Kemba said giving him a wide smile. "Sorry for being a dummy." He said.

Theos vision went back and then it returned as he opened his eyes. His gaze going Magi silhouetted against the night sky.....maybe not all heroes were martyrs....

"Theos....I changed my mind. I don't want to leave your side anymore....or ever. I'm fine going to your mountain after the war....as long as I can be with you forever." Kemba said giving him a wide smile. "Sorry for being a dummy." He said.
"We both were," Theos said smiling a bit. He stepped forward and nuzzled Kemba his head going over his shoulder for a hug. "I love you Kemba," Theos said and remained there a long moment.
"Let's go to bed. We have a long day ahead of us tomorrow," Theos said leading him to the bed. He hopped onto and curled up to Kemba when he joined him. His eyes closing for an almost dreamless slumber.

Kemba embraced Theos as he hugged him, tonight was so bitter sweet. Jared died, but they were brought closer as a result. Kemba felt a little stronger to and he wanted to avenge Jared now more then ever. The fear of Aello was gone completely now and he was going to do his best during this war. He was sure he'd have to mourn again but that is all it would be. No more self pity and depression, his heart was mended.
"I love you way more." Kemba said chuckling. "Let's go to bed. We have a long day ahead of us tomorrow," Kemba nodded and followed Theos into the bed and curled up with him. He brushed his paw over Theos's head as he closed his eyes. Kemba's tail curling around Theos's tail he began to hum the tune to the song Theos had sung moments before not remembering the words. He buried his chin into Theos's scalp, and hummed until the tired set in, breaking his humming into increments and then silencing him.
He slept with Theos in his arms and dreamed of their future together.

The wind was blowing a sturdy gale at this height. The rocks shifted tumbling a few pebbles down the sheer cliff face. This place was familiar. A mountain, the sky.....but beneath him was nothing but greenery. He always thought green was pretty. He rarely ever saw it in these mountains. It was a dream....a peaceful one. One that had to end.
The rocks above him shifted and his gaze went from down to up. beady eyes stared back with a grinning mouth. Ara's true nature revealed. She spat her webbing at him to try and pull him into her mouth.....but he could fly....and she couldn't. He leaped off the mountain face. Her webbing falling short. She could never reach him now....how does one flap wings though? Slowly he began to fall....
Theos woke his eyes blinking. He stretched slightly the dream fading slowly from his mind. Though the scenery remained longer than the rest. It had been awhile since he had the dream of climbing a mountain.
He got up and rolled off the bed. He started grooming himself as he always did. He looked out the balcony at the sky. It was blue and filled with white clouds. It was a nice day out and in truth it felt like any other. It didn't feel like war loomed over the horizon.
"Time to wake up," Theos said hopping back on the bed and laying on Kemba to urge him awake. "We'll do our morning routine then go join in the training. I'm sure the soldiers are working double time to prepare." In fact his ears twitched at the faintest sounds of sparring from the balcony window. Some were already hard at work...

"Time to wake up," Kemba felt Theos's body lay on him, stirring him from his sleep. He opened them slowly, seeing the face of Theos, his body warmth against his fur.
"We'll do our morning routine then go join in the training. I'm sure the soldiers are working double time to prepare." Kemba sat up with a yawn, hearing what sounded like the clashing of metal. There was a faint smell of smoke on the air, he assumed from some fire breaths.
"I think we should skip the morning bath if we're going to train...we'll just undo all of the clean." Kemba touched his nose to Theos's with a smile. "I can't believe that I almost let you leave my life...there is nothing like waking up to your face in the morning. I mean, it would make my makeover yesterday sort of pointless, don't you think?" He chuckled.
"So, my dearest Theos...should we or shouldn't we skip breakfast?" He asked. "I'm fine just kissing you and going to find Cole." He purred.

"We need to keep our energy up. It wouldn't be healthy to starve ourselves," Theos said his tail wagging as he removed himself from on top of Kemba. The bath wasn't needed like he said.
"I can't wait to train either but we got to make sure we are at our best. Not only for ourselves but to help reassure the people too," Theos smiled a bit as he spoke. They were going to be looking to all the Lords and royals to keep them safe.
Theos jumped off the bed with a slight skip. He had to make Jared proud. He was eager to start the day and would leave Kemba behind if he didn't hurry.

"We need to keep our energy up. It wouldn't be healthy to starve ourselves," Kemba watched him leap down and Kemba slid off too. It was apparent Theos was all business this morning, Kemba would have to hold off on his kiss it seemed. He kind of chuckled at Theos a bit.
"I can't wait to train either but we got to make sure we are at our best. Not only for ourselves but to help reassure the people too," Kemba moved over to the rack he hung his armor on and dressed himself. "Hold on, I can't go out there without my armor. Someone is anxious this morning." He said with a laugh.
He placed the visor firmly on his head and threw his cape over his back, with a renewed mind and mended heart he gripped the hilt of his sword and let out a sigh, nodding at himself in the small mirror hanging next to his armor rack. He turned and followed after Theos with a quick pace. "I'm right behind you!" He called.

Kemba caught up to Theos ready to go giving him a smile, "I almost forgot something," Kemba quirked his head and then was kissed and he softened his gaze as Theos ran off down the hall. "Yup...would have been really dumb..." He said to himself then ran after him.
