Godmodding is doing the impossible or forcing something you want onto someone else. Godmodding can be done when on the Offensive and when you're on the Defensive.
Offensive:
When attacking, you're NEVER to declare your attacks hitting your opponent. Whether or not they do will in fact be up to your opponent.
You should always try to be as detailed as you can when posting up an attack. Use words like "went" or "was going to" or "would then" etc.
If you want to go into another move right after, there is a way to post it without forcing your attacks on someone.
i.e. WarGreymon went to slash at Piemon from his left side in an attempt to cut him from his shoulder down to his waist. After his slash, WarGreymon would then throw a kick into his stomach to send the Clown sliding inches from himself.
That is a perfect description for an attack and a combo. Using words like "went", "attempt", and "would then" described what I wanted to do but not saying I hit them. This now leaves room to your opponent to defensively post while if he so chose to put up a counterattack.
Now this is not the correct way to post an attack.
WarGreymon slashed at Piemon cutting him from his shoulder to his waist he then kicked him in his stomach which sent him flying a few inches away.
You just forced your attacks on your opponent and now he cannot properly post defensively. Do not do this and you will become a better Rper.
Defensive:
Now the most common form of god mod is defensive god mod. You cannot dodge every attack all of the time, even if you're an expert modder and you see a way out of your opponents attacks. A good majority of the time its respectful to your opponent to be hit every now and then.
Now given your opponent properly posted an attack, you're now given several options. What you should always do when defending is to imagine the situation in your head and see if there is anyway to dodge the attack.
This is why for attackers it is important to be as detailed as you can get.
i.e. Piemon saw the attack coming from towards his shoulder. Piemon raised his arm to block the attack, but before Piemon could counter he was kicked in the stomach and stumbled back. Quickly recovering Piemon threw a trump sword at WarGreymon's torso.
That is just one of the ways you could approach an attack. Depending on the situation you can do plenty of other things. Just remember to be fair.
Other Information:
Keep in mind everyone and everything has stamina. Everything you do will affect it. Every attack, every hit, blood loss, disorientation, adrenaline etc.
You should keep these things in mind when fighting in a post. If you get cut you bleed and you will continue to bleed until you're treated or other events happen to help you.
Adrenaline is an extra boost in stamina, so even if you've been bleeding through a severe injury for 10 or so posts, or you have a broken bone(s) adrenaline will give you that boost to continue fighting. It doesn't last forever and should be your last legs.
Broken bones can take place and should impair how you fight. If your leg is broken, you're not going to be able to move very well etc.
If you incorporate all of this when battling, you will do fine. Your fights will be more interesting and it will be respectful.
Try to strategize, try to force your opponent into an impossible situation, or try to do something that goes in your favor to turn the tide of a battle.
