Dantelion and Aym walk into the training room. Various work out machines of varied sizes lined the rooms. Dantelion headed towards one of the areas in the middle meant for sparring and sat. Aym sat across from him with a curious expression.
"We need to be able to work together. In order to understand that we need to know what each others abilities are." Dantelion explained as he stared at Aym. "I see you have a gun. Would you prefer distanced fighting?"
"I believe I would....my claws are sharp but I am not sure I have the instinct to fight hand to hand." Aym says rubbing his head.
"Then I will play the role of hand to hand. I've had my fair of scraps." Dantelion says nodding. "You may call me Dante by that way."
"I am Aym." the commandramon said not quite sure how he knew his name.
"Should we try some fighting?" Dante asks Aym making sure he was ready. Aym nods. "Alright." he says mainly to himself and they both stand. He heads over to a nearby console. He presses a few buttons intializing a training stimulation. He was uncertain as to what a Biyomon was. It's stats appeared low however.

"STARTING TRAINING SIMULATION. PREPARING FIELD." The computer said, suddenly a the room became an open meadow complete with hills of every size and almost no flora. The sky was blue with few clouds. It was roughly an acre. "PREPARING OPPONENT...." About 16 feet from where Dante and Aym were standing, a Biyomon materialized. It looked ready to battle. "OPPONENT PREPARED. BATTLE START!"
Dantelion and Aym level 1
vs.
Biyomon Simulation level 1
Biyomon wasted no time in attacking, "Magical Fire!!!" She attacked directly aiming at Aym.

Aym hit the deck letting it go overhead. His hands covering his head a little. Aym looks up a little shaken by the sudden attack.
Dante waste no time retaliating. He jumps forward his bare fist striking out at the birds head. Then turning and lashing out with his left foot.
"Get up Aym. This thing has wings. If it moves out of range you have to shoot it." Dante said realizing this battle would be a tad harder than he initially thought. He really needed to go through his D.I.G. and familiarize himself with the digimon.
Aym complied promptly straightening his helmet and kneeling. He swung his gun around ready to attack.

Just as Dante had predicted, Biyomon wasted no time in taking to the sky to avoid his attacks it quickly went to counter attack by diving down at Dante with it's left talon. "Hyaah!!!" It lashed forward, should it connect it would sink it's talons into Dante and pull to tear out his flesh. If it missed, it would fly back up into the sky directly above to avoid any counterattack Dante might try. It's attention had been taken away from Aym regardless of the result.

Dante lifted his arm up in defense doing his best to back away from the bird. The D.I.G. on his arm providing protection. He hoped it wasn't damaged by the talons.
Aym realized Dante was too busy defending himself to order the attack. Taking upon himself he waited til the Biyomon swooped in again and took his shot. He aimed for the wing hoping to cripple the bird.
Dante heard the shot time seeming to slow. His adrenaline was pumping and while it wasn't unpleasant his gut knotted slightly. The thrill of battle settling into a constant force. His senses seemed to heighten slightly and his breathing uneven. He tried his best to remain calm.

Dantelion's D.I.G. was far more sturdy then Biyomon's talons and even wound up cracking the young birds nails. In pain, it flew back and just as it swooped in to peck at Dantelion, the bullet shot from Aym burned through the bird's simulated flesh. The blood spat out, staining her beautiful pink feathers. Droplets spewed outward, some even towards Dantelion, the simulation cried in agony as it fell to the floor. It stood holding it's wounded and useless wing and glared coldly at the two partners. Even though it was a simple simulation, it's eyes perfectly captured the fear it was '"feeling." It refused to stand down however and charged forward and because it was closest to Dantelion, jumped at him in an attempt to peck at his face. Dantelion could sense it, this simulations fight for survival, the fear of death should it give up. It wanted to live, so it chose to fight even crippled. Alas, a flightless bird is but an ant under the boot of the very person who could decide it's fate. Still, it was still a simulation. A very realistic simulation.

Dantelion backed away from the bird as it retreated a moment. He looked to his unharmed D.I.G. this thing was sturdier than he imagined. He definitely had to find out what alloy it was. This simulation almost felt real. His arm was slightly numb from the attack and the look on the birds face. It's eyes showed pain and fear all too real.....he didn't like it. He worked hard all his life and he enjoyed his own pain...but not others. He felt bad; he knew it didn't exist but he felt bad.
The sight of blood made his heart ache and his throat close. He wouldn't give it up though. Reason was on his side after all. Facing a real opponent this would be what it was like. The blood the glare all of it would happen again. Not with a simulation but with a real living being. It was preparing him for the worst and he knew it. It came at him again jumping with wings outspread and its beak aimed for his face.
He silently cursed to himself and went sideways launching his leg out in a counter attack at the side of its face as it passed. The foe would go sprawling if it hit however should it spin away by adjusting its one good wing Aym would shoot it where it landed.
Aym watched the bird from a distance. He saw the blood and thought it was life itself dripping away. He frowned as he watched Dante he could see the discomfort on his face. Aym himself though he thought nothing of it. He couldn't help but to feel nothing which in itself was odd. Maybe this was one of those side effects Dr. Ichi mentioned. A lack of emotion. He watched as the bird attacked again and Dante went to the side. He readied his weapon his mind only in the here and now. He calculated where his foe would land and was ready to fire the moment it did.

Dante was quick to react as Biyomon lashed at his face. It was already committed to the attack and would not be able to quickly think itself to the safety of avoiding a counter. Dante's leg connected with full force on Biyomon's head, Dante's leg would feel the fluff of the simulated feathers brush up against him but would soon be overshadowed by the next "feeling." His leg could feel the skull of the simulated Digimon smash against his own bone, the pain of impact of bone hitting bone. His ears would hear the thud and the small fractures in Biyomon's skull cracking under the force of the impact. His eyes could see up close the Digimon's tightly closed eyes and strong exhale of simulated breath. The feeling of it's head jerking in the opposite direction finally sending the Digimon away, it bounced off the ground when it hit. Going airborne about 2 feet off the ground, before landing hard and raising dirt into the simulated atmosphere. It fell back down to the simulated ground, dirtying her body. It laid there, not getting up. Why then, if it was beaten, was the simulation not over? Was there something left to be done? Surely, this simulation could no longer fight. So why would it not end? Dante could see the Digimon's body twitching as it was looking for the strength to stand. To fight some more, but all it could do for the time was twitch.
Dante would notice on the point of impact from his leg, remnants of a digisoul, fading away from his leg.

Aym watched the birds direction change shifting his body so he could continue to watch and attack if needed. It's twitching body looked odd on the ground. He looked to his partner who stood there a moment rubbing his shin lightly. He then looked back to the bird wondering what he should do; if anything.
Dantelion bent down rubbing his shin where it had landed. A ghostly remnant of feeling its skull remaining. He watched the data coming off his leg til it disappeared like a fog. He looked to the biyomon frowning. He then cast a glance to his digimon who's attention was back on the foe at this point. Turning his gaze back he wondered if he really had to kill it before the simulation is over. He grimaced at the thought and walked over.
"Aym," he said looking to his fallen foe standing just out of reach. "I've never killed before....I don't think I can" He said his voice cracking. "I want to give it peace and put it out of its misery but..." he stopped there. His voice catching in his throat. He teared but didn't cry. "I'm sorry..." he says faintly and moves away. "Could you..." he says turning away his voice not really directed at Aym but it's meaning was.
Aym got up from where he knelt and approached them. He stood beside his partner a moment looking at his face. Then looking to the bird he prepared to kill it but stopped.
"It's a simulation right. It's not real." He says to Dante. "Even in the real world it is kill or be killed right....I haven't lived long but my instincts tell me that. I don't feel remorse for it Dante. I don't feel bad about this. However I feel bad because you do..."he says then backs away. "Let's just end the stimulation. When the time comes I'm sure you could do it. If you had to protect me or someone else even if you felt bad afterwards I know you could. And I know I can when it comes to protecting you my partner....my friend." he says he felt nothing and yet his partner. He could feel something for him. It was an odd thing and just thinking about it confused him more.
Dantelion stared at his partner. He was amazed at what he said. They had known one another for such a short time. Could their bonds truly have become that strong? He knelt down onto his knees looking Aym in the face. He believed in him and claimed he knew when the time was right Dantelion could do it. Even he didn't know that for certain. He gave him a smile.
"You are amazing...you overgrown lizard." he says and pats his head. "I couldn't live with myself though. Knowing that there is a possibility....even a small one I couldn't." he stops and looks to the bird. Aym was willing to do it for him. He had to be willing to do it for Aym. It would get easier right?
Dantelion took a deep breathe and closed his eyes. He couldn't ask Aym to do it not again. He shouldn't ask him to do something he wasn't willing to himself. If they ever got seperated he had to be strong enough to fight his way back. He got up and looked down to the Biyomon. Silently cursing himself he drove his heel downwards to the birds skull. Closing his eyes and preparing to feel its bones crack again.
Dantelion stood there watching a bar brawl. He hanged around bars a lot most people at bars were to lazy or tired to fix things around the house for themselves so they gave him good business. The three grown men hashed it out landing blow upon blow. It had all been about strength. He hated it.
He saw and smelled the blood. A broken jaw, a bloody nose...it disgusted him. He wanted it to stop. So he stepped in banging their heads together. They turned on him. All three and began to wallop him. He cursed to himself but realized they had stopped fighting one another and were working together. He found that a small victory but a victory non-the-less. He smiled.
It was a victory non-the-less right? He and Aym had worked together. They had bonded.

Biyomon laid there with her adversaries standing over her. She looked up and still tried to move her exhausted body but it would not respond, it looked up moving it's beak to try and speak but nothing could escape. The previous impact had left her damaged badly. She watched as the two talked about her fate, to kill her or not. This was the moment of truth for her, she knew her will to live wasn't enough and she watched all the way to the point Dante's foot reached it's climax and barreled down towards her cranium. The boot smashed into her head, the bone shattered like an eggshell. Crunch. The feeling and sound were all to real, Dante could feel it give way under his foot. It's body stiffened, jerking every which way as if the limbs attempted to run from the source of the pain. Then nothing. The body became motionless; its limbs resting now on the ground, the final exhale of breath escaped the open beak of the child Digimon. As Dante would remove his foot, the look of horror plastered on the Digimon's face felt like more then a simulation. Out of it's nostrils came a stream of blood and our of it's mouth a river that pooled. The life in it's eyes faded slowly, water pooled in the corner of the one visible eye. As it took it's final breath it slowly moved outward from the eye, had it not been for the feathers absorbing the water it would have run down her face. It's short life was ending and the fear and hopelessness had finally taken it's toll. The last thing it saw before it's vision faded was Dante's mournful face. It's life gone, now just a husk. It did not dissipate into data, the body remained there. The lifeless eye looking back at Dante. It was over yet the simulation did not end.
"It was a scared and defenseless Digimon. Fighting for it's life. A life you so easily snatched from it. Was it because it isn't real? Or was it because you felt obligated to do so?" A females voice called out to him getting closer. Until she finally stood side by side with Dante looking down at the dead Digimon. Dante and Aym when they would notice, would see that it was Ino Yamaki. Head of W.A.D.A., whether they knew that or not she did not know. She showed remorse as she watched the Digimon lying there. "I've seen children like this one, just like this." She said. She stood with one hand on her sword and the other hanging at her side. She never looked at Dante.

Dante stared at it moment then looked away. He felt sick even though he proved to himself he could kill if he absolutely had to. It just felt wrong...
"It was a scared and defenseless Digimon. Fighting for it's life. A life you so easily snatched from it. Was it because it isn't real? Or was it because you felt obligated to do so?" A females voice called out making Dante jump. He felt terrible as is. He backs away from the body. "I've seen children like this one, just like this."
"I.....It was mercy....it was in so much pain as was." he said the words falling flat. Even he couldn't believe that excuse. There was no excuse for killing. Even if he proved he could kill the desire was not there even in the slightest. His heart sank with her every word. His eyes closed and he refused to meet her gaze. He had no idea who she was but this was definitely a bad first impression.
"It wasn't real. His feelings are but it is not." Aym says looking to the body then to his partner. The shame apparent on his partners face. "If push comes to shove we both know that in order to save each other we are willing to kill for one another. My partner was not wrong."
"Stop Aym...no matter the reason. Killing in and of itself is wrong. I....do not rejoice in knowing i could." he says and finally looks to the woman before him. "This is a poor first impression." he says his eyes still watered with no tears and his cheeks slightly red. "I am Dantelion Moudry, ma'am. I'm sorry you saw that."he says trying to compose himself.

Ino turned to look at Aym and Dante, she gave a small smile and replied, "Ino Yamaki." Her smile soon faded and she had become serious again. "Forgive me, it is I who altered the simulation settings. It would have ended normally when a critical blow is delivered to either side but I changed it to see if you would kill this Digimon. I wanted to see how far you were willing to go even though you knew it was a simulation. I wanted to see into your heart, and you showed it quite vividly. All though your heart wavered, your mind chose to snuff her life out. You then tried to rationalize the choice to make the situation fit the act, unfortunately, that was not the case. It became apparent that this Digimon posed you no threat. Yet you made the mental decision to continue fighting." She looked at Aym. "You claim she wasn't real, but for centuries the same was said about Digimon. As creatures comprised of data, your feelings were simply code...your way of life was a farce. Whether you lived or died was of no consequence because no harm was ever being done." She turned to look at Biyomon and waved her D.I.G., and the Biyomon's body changed to Commandramon; in the same death state the Biyomon was prior. It looked like Aym in every way, "There are countless humans who would look at you the same way you looked at Biyomon. They would never even hesitate. What you did here is no different despite the realistic simulation. What we stand for here at W.A.D.A., is to stop that way of thinking. To forge a bond of peace between our species, to force those who think this way to realize the foolishness of their thoughts." She looked down at Aym.
"You said, if push comes to shove you now know either one of you would die for the other based on this result. Was that Biyomon even a threat? How could you know that based off of an opponent who was out classed? What was done here was not a mercy killing. Wounds heal. What was done here was to see if you could simply murder. I don't mean to sound brash but an agent must know the difference between the fight for survival and the fight for peace. Unless you know these two differences, you will never change the thinking of the world, and the next Digimon you see like this, might very well be Aym." Ino waved her D.I.G. and the simulation ended and they now stood in the training hub. The dead Commandramon was all that remained and slowly dissipated into data from the tail to head. "Kill to survive. Fight for peace. Form unbreakable bonds with each other." Ino smiled. "I'm positive next time such a situation presents itself, you'll know what to do." She said waiting for anything they may want to say.

"Ino Yamaki." Her smile was brief. "Forgive me, it is I who altered the simulation settings. He wanted to show he could do the same. Prove to himself and his partner that they were equal and could rely on one another. What was that saying? The road to hell was paved with good intentions. "You claim she wasn't real, but for centuries the same was said about Digimon. As creatures comprised of data, your feelings were simply code...your way of life was a farce. Whether you lived or died was of no consequence because no harm was ever being done." he watched wave her arm and the digimon change. He stared at it his heart tightening again. He let out a muffled curse and looked away not wanting to see it.
"There are countless humans who would look at you the same way you looked at Biyomon. They would never even hesitate. What you did here is no different despite the realistic simulation. What we stand for here at W.A.D.A., is to stop that way of thinking. To forge a bond of peace between our species, to force those who think this way to realize the foolishness of their thoughts." Aym stared back at her. He still didn't feel bad about it.
"You said, if push comes to shove you now know either one of you would die for the other based on this result. Was that Biyomon even a threat? Dantelion turned his head slightly watching it dissipate. He couldn't run from reality no matter how hard he tried. He knew that, and he had to face it. "Kill to survive. Fight for peace. Form unbreakable bonds with each other." Ino smiled. "I'm positive next time such a situation presents itself, you'll know what to do." She said waiting for anything they may want to say.
"If my partner follows your path for peace then I will follow it to. I still don't see why killing is so wrong however. Life begins and ends the same way. With a single breath." Aym says.
"Aym don't." Dante says quietly to him. "Just don't.....Ms. Yamaki I have learned a very important lesson today. I never desire this feeling ever again. My desire....no there is no excuse I can say a hundred things now. Yet nothing changes what was done or the fact I did....I am sorry Ms. Yamaki if that is truely what you seek in agents. I may not be perfect for the task....I will do my best though. I won't let things hold me back." he turns to Aym. "No matter what Aym. Even if you don't feel it is wrong...you must never take a life."
Aym nodded and looked down submitting. He would do as his partner commanded. He felt like he had done something wrong but for the life of him couldn't figure out why. He just hoped he could help his partner feel better in some way. He was young though. Maybe he could figure it out in time.

Ino knelt down and looked at Aym, "You are still young. I don't expect you to understand fully the value of a life. I just hope you will understand fully your partners feelings, Aym. Try not to take after your father Ichi, okay?" She patted the young dinosaurs helmet. Suddenly, a man ran into the training hub "Headmaster Yamaki, General Shang calls for you." Ino sighed and stood up and looked at the man. "Tell the General I will be there in a moment." The man bowed and ran out. "It seems I am needed so I must leave you to your business. Good luck Dante and Aym. I hope to see great things in your guild masters reports." She smiled and held Dante's shoulder for a brief moment before walking and leaving the Training Hub. Now all that remained were the partners.

Dante nodded as she walked away. He looked to Aym with a small smile.
"Well let's go get settled in our room." He says and starts walking. He does his best to forget about it he turned his mind to his D.I.G. and the future of him and his partner.
