So, having a weapon style is not just for Role Playing benefits but gives you a little extra bonus in particular areas. Choosing a weapon style will determine the following:
Melee: Gives your character a boost in physical strength and speed. You are able to jump higher than normal, and you become more resistant to PHYSICAL attacks due to your physical training. You also have higher stamina, enabling you to last longer in drawn out battles. However, this ability makes you more vulnerable to long range attacks.
One Handed: This gives your character high perception able to foresee your opponents moves easier thus making your evasiveness better. Gives you higher stamina to last longer in winded battles. Gives you the fastest boost in speed. However, this style makes you more susceptible to attacks. It also degrades your physical strength as your weapon is light you don't require much physical strength.
Two Handed: Highest physical strength able to shatter boulders with relative ease. Able to lift twice your own weight. Highest resistance to PHYSICAL attacks. Also gives you the highest stamina boost due to carrying such heavy equipment. However, degrades your speed greatly and ability to jump. Degrades your evasiveness due to heavy equipment. Blocking is not the same as dodging for those wondering.
Ranged: Highest perception able to spot even the smallest movement giving you the highest evasiveness. Jump higher then any other class. Improved speed. Improved stamina. Great focus able to accurately aim your attacks at any given body part or object. However, it gives you the lowest physical strength and lowest resistance. You own a glass jaw in other words.
Now keep in mind that the effectiveness of each class also depends on level difference and rank difference. Humans still cannot compete with Perfect level digimon or higher (under special circumstances this may prove untrue). A level one Ranged user will still be greatly outmatched vs a level 10 Melee user. Keep that in mind when RPing. Your level will improve your weapon class attributes.
Now upon learning a new class your abilities will change as well. More information regarding that coming soon.
