Traitors and Truffles

Yaten felt terrible, what was he doing? This wasn't like him. They were outnumbering this digimon who was scared for her life. She was crying and now wounded from their assault, there mission was to kill her and any other anima would do it because that is what they grew up knowing in the den. Yaten knew that their mission was to kill her and yet, this was his first true quest ever and it sucked, royally. He made a mistake going on an assassin mission but how would he know how difficult it would be to take a life? Yaten knew nothing about this digimon, what reason did Imperium have to want her dead? The quest details didn't say. Yaten had made up his mind and he hoped Leo would be fine with it. Yaten noticed ModokiBetamon send out a last spur of electricity, Yaten jumped up to avoid it grabbing a branch above his head and twirling around to stand on it. Leo had lit several of the branches on fire, trapping her in a ring of blue flames. She was done for, nothing could save her and it would be a simple task to end her life. Yaten glared at the ModokiBetamon and jumped off the branch to position himself in air above the digimon. The golden 'V' on his forehead glistened in the light of the sun peering down from the canopy. "Kuuchuu V-mon Head!" Yaten came charging down, his head aimed at her. It would have enough force to kill her on impact should it hit. He came flying down with full force and crashed into the muddy water, splashing it over the ring of fire and putting it out. Yaten missed, he headbutted the ground inches from ModokiBetamon. He lifted his head from the ground, covered in mud and looked at her, "You're dead now." He said to her. He turned and began walking towards Leo, "We killed you okay? Don't ever come back to the Digital World again. Go...live your life with W.A.D.A. and never return." Yaten said turning his head slightly to look at her. "Imperium will pursue you no longer. Good bye and good luck." Yaten turned his head and looked at Leo and gave an apologetic look, "I'm sorry....I just can't bring myself to kill her. Not without a reason. Can you let this one go? Just this once?" Yaten asked Leo. He hoped that Leo would understand, but it was Leo that taught him how to appreciate life and snuffing out this digimon's life just because she new a couple of things that honestly didn't matter to Yaten was not something he could stand behind.

Heat burst to life around the small Betamon, blue flames licking and burning away the branches that had fallen around her. Her eyes stared into the flame, mouth slightly open as she backed herself into the tree she had hit. She could feel her heart beat furiously in her chest as the electricity died. Eyes frantically looked around for any opening she could escape to but she didn't have time. A shadow appeared over her.

When Yaten yelled out his attack, the ModokiBetamon froze and squeezed her eyes shut, waiting for the impact that would bring her death. She should have never run. She should have stayed in Imperium and all of this would have never happened.

The ground near her shook with the impact made nearly inches from her body and her orange eyes opened ever so slightly when Yaten said that she was now dead. She watched him stand, now covered head to toe in mud, listening to his words. None of what he said made sense. He was letting her go?

Part of her didn't trust him and she carefully stood, looking up at the two anima that had attacked her and we're now letting her live her life without Imperium. That wasn't like the Imperium anima. They were built to obey and kill so why was this one letting her go.

"Wh-Why? H-How do I know... You're not tricking me...." She was out of breath and cringing as the pain in her ribs spiked as she spoke. "Imperium would never let you get away with letting me go..."

"I'm sorry....I just can't bring myself to kill her. Not without a reason. Can you let this one go? Just this once?" Leo stared at him a long moment. If they did this then they could get in serious trouble. Especially if he information she had was something they could act on and she was the only leak to that information

"I suppose we could," Leo said putting hands behind his head. "But shouldn't we ask what it is first? If important then we could be in biiiiiiig trouble," Leo emphasized the big. "So what'cha ya know that sooo dangerous," Leo said crouching down in front of her.

Yaten sighed, "Knowing it won't change my mind....she's clearly out matched and not a threat. It doesn't feel right fighting her and if her information was so valuable why wouldn't any of Imperium's execs chase her down." Yaten said turning to look at her. "The mud is also starting to dry and I need a bath." Yaten said. "If you must interrogate her however, I won't stop you. Just....consider the situation before you do anything." Yaten said. He walked over to a tree and leaned into it crossing his arms and watching what the ModokiBetamon had to say. He would allow the situation to play out with or without a favorable outcome. Yaten would never dare interfere with Leo, he respected him to much. He'd be angry with him if Leo did decide to kill her but he'd learn to live with it.

The small rookie Digimon silently watched as the two anima conversed, taking small steps backwards in an attempt to sneak off as they were distracted. However when Leo moved closer to get and kneeled down to her level, the ModokiBetamon froze, staring up at the much much taller anima. "U-Um..." She glanced towards the side, attempting to think of a lie to tell.

Orange eyes moved towards Yaten standing behind Leo, listening to his words. Her eyes moved to the ground before finally looking up at Leo with a sigh. "Imperium stole ammunition from W.A.D.A..." The answer was soft, nearly heard of Leo want so close. "Imperium is just going to use it to hurt other Digimon... I'm giving W.A.D.A the location where we took it... Now please let me go."

"Ammo......is that really that important," Leo said straightening while s s scratching his head. "I mean I can spit fire and we got your knuckles and hard head. There really is no use for such stuff." Leo was as blunt and oblivious as always. Though he was down playing it for Yaten's sake. To him it really was worthless though he had no use for such things.

Yaten shrugged, "You're asking the wrong Anima. I just follow my mission...unless it's something like this." Yaten turned away from them and began to walk away. "Remember Miss, you're dead...so find a nice place to live and never come back okay?" Yaten waved.

He looked at his caked body full of mud and dirty clothes, he sighed. "Just great, my first mission and I'm just down right filthy. Even my tail..." He said trying to wipe the dirt from his blue tail. "Nothing a hot bath and soap won't fix. Which makes me wonder....does Imperium even have bathes? I wonder if it would be better to find a river somewhere...hmm." Yaten said thinking to himself. He was completely lost in his own thoughts, ignoring the events behind him and Leo entirely. "Guess I shouldn't...not every day an Anima bathes in a river."

The ModokiBetamon watched as Leo stood, seeming to not care about the container of ammunition that Imperium stole from WADA. She silently watched as they both turned away from her. They were really letting her go? Part of her felt like this was just a trick but the two anima seemed to not pay her mind. Before Yaten could remind her of her fake deadness, they would hear the shuffle of leaves and the telltale sign of something plunging into the water.

If either of them looked back to where she just was, they'd see an empty spot in the middle of the burnt circle of twigs. She had bolted as soon as they both turned away, without even a thank you no less.

Leo raised an eyebrow at Yaten. He then heard a splash behind him and he turned around seeing that she was gone. He shrugged it off and walked up to Yaten. Taking a bath in a river....he could dig it.

Leo began stripping with a grin, "Come join me Bluebie." He jumped in without a moments notice and suddenly regretted it. For Yggdrassil's sake it was cold! He got out shaking off the water. Well he would be an idiot to do it again....so he did it again. "Chilly yet satisfying," Leo said smiling. "Also I think I have raisins now."

"Come join me Bluebie." Yaten looked behind him and was shocked at a naked Leo passing him. "L-Leo...what are you doing!?" He exclaimed. Yaten looked around the woods to see if anyone was around, he then looked back to his best friend jumping into a river.

"Chilly yet satisfying," Yaten looked at his friend and he sighed. "Also I think I have raisins now." Yaten chuckled at that last remark.

"Can I ask how the river can be cold if it's in a humid environment? Also, what if there are people or digimon around? It might not be just me here you know....and you shouldn't be so quick to make yourself naked in front of me either...." Yaten said chuckling.

"We're not children anymore in the showers of the den." Yaten smiled. "Come on, get dressed so I can go home and bathe." Yaten said picking up Leo's pants and shirt. "When was the last time you washed these?" He said making a face after smelling them.

Leo thought about it. It wasn't that cold really...as for making himself naked he didn't really care. All the digimon were naked and he was half digimon soooo by default it was half okay to run around blowing in the breeze.

"Your right I didn't think," Leo suddenly exclaimed. "What if there are giblet eaters," Leo looked around covering his privy as he got out and shook a bit to rid himself of water. "They want my giblets," he whispers to Yaten then grabs his cloths ignoring his other question. He dresses hurriedly then leaps at Yatens back to hang onto him.

"Your right I didn't think," Leo suddenly exclaimed. "What if there are giblet eaters,"

What eaters? Yaten raised a brow at his naked friend.

"They want my giblets,"

Yaten looked over his shoulder as Leo was holding on, leaning back on him. "I'm not sure what a giblet is, but I'm sure those eaters exist. Also...your right, you do have raisins." Yaten laughed and pulled away.

"You finally ready to go back Leo?" Yaten asked. He was sad the mission had ended. He'd have to go back to being a solider when they returned. He frowned at the thought.

"All good things must come to an end I guess..." he said foiling with his D.I.G., "Back to playing soldier for us."

Leo nodded and started following Yaten. He didn't know what giblets were or how naive. Then again how many had actually tried the things. 

"Hey ho it's off to work we go," Leo said prancing past Yaten to get him to smile. He really wasn't cut out for this soldier stuff was he. Not that it mattered to Leo. Push comes to shove he'd always have his back.
