"Not yet....I'm not done yet...." Talia watched with pretended indifference though on the inside she was worried and wanted to tell him to stop, "I can...do this!" is yelp made her jump. Well that was that then. "Damn it..."
"Enough" Talia said standing. "Go bathe and get some rest. Let your paws heal," she said and removed the clean rugs setting one down in front of the door and rolling the others. "I have to say pup you learn fast," she would say to the empty room if he had already gone to the shower.
If he pressed to continue, "Pup one must learn their limitations. You can't hit anything with a broken paw. They can be toughened but it will never happen all at once. Now go bathe." She would leave no room for argument.
Either way he had worked hard and had made an impression. She would take him to the Battle arena to see those who will be his foes in the ring. It could be a learning experience for him since he more than likely will face at least half of those digimon in the ring.

"Enough" Miles looked up at her, "Go bathe and get some rest. Let your paws heal," Miles stood and shook his head, "I have to say pup you learn fast,"
"I can keep going! I just need to re-bandage them and..." Talia interrupted, "Pup one must learn their limitations. You can't hit anything with a broken paw. They can be toughened but it will never happen all at once. Now go bathe." Miles head dropped down and he looked at his wounded paw, the bandage falling to the ground.
"Yes ma'me...." Miles moved to do as he was instructed, he'd have to explain to Talia now about his paws for sure. How he was never made to be a fighter, he was certain she would kick him out. Miles sighed but he was determined, if Talia didn't want him he'd do it on his own.
He left his gloves and bandanna on the table and went to bathe, he would make himself clean before heading to a bed to fall into a sleep. He looked at his still shaking paw, some of his blue fur missing from the knuckles; the pink skin scrapped. He silently cursed to himself until his fatigue took him to sleep.

Talia looked to the gloves and grabbed them inspecting the inside. The blood and seeped into its recesses. She took them and the bandanna and headed out back. She took the washboard off the wall along with a scrubber and sat down with a bucket of water. She began scrubbing and cleaning the gloves and headband by hand. A washing machine couldn't get the inside as clean as doing it by hand. Before long strands of fur and skin were in the water with the blood.
It took awhile but she was finally satisfied and took them back in throwing them in the drier. She headed to bed herself it was close to two in the morning. She slept soundly.
Nina came in close to ten and looked around. No one was awake yet but she knew where to find them. She headed back and peaked into Miles room. She grinned a bit and snuck in before pouncing on the bed playfully to wake him.
"Morning sleepy head," she said laughing a little too loud. Talia woke and got up. She walked down the hall and glared in. "Oops..." Nina said sliding off the bed with a grin. Talia grumbled but didn't enter. Instead she went to check on his gloves to make sure they were done.

Miles slept soundly, dreaming of boxing when Nina had woken him from his deep slumber. "Morning sleepy head," Miles jumped up from his sleep, ripped from his dreams. "Eep!" He squeaked falling off the bed. He poked his head up and looked to Nina, frowning.
"Oops..."
Miles stood up and cleared his throat, "What are you doing here so early? Does Talia just let you roam in as you please?" Miles asked looking around for his gloves and hand band. He had forgotten where he had placed them, his paws had stopped bleeding and his knuckles scabbed.
"Not to sound rude Miss Nina but you nearly scared me out of my fur...please don't wake me so brashly next time." He asked with a pout.

"Sorry," Nina said chuckling. She looked to his paws and it faded a bit. "Your hands look bad. You should be careful," Nina said walking over to him. She got in his face so he had to look at her. "O-k-ey," she said prolonging the word.
She straightened then started out of his room. "Also Talia doesn't like me much. Says I'm annoying so nope," Nina said stopping and chuckling. "You want me to bandage your hands. One.....three....no five of my sisters are medics. So I learned a thing or two."

"Sorry," Miles frowned at her half hearted apology. "Your hands look bad. You should be careful," Miles looked at his paws and then back to Nina, pulling his head back as she got in his face. "O-k-ey," Miles nodded slowly with a confused expression, what was wrong with this girl?
"Also Talia doesn't like me much. Says I'm annoying so nope," Miles straightened out and looked at her with an arched brow. "You want me to bandage your hands. One.....three....no five of my sisters are medics. So I learned a thing or two." Miles looked at his paws and then back to her once more.
"I'll have to check with Talia first...." Miles gaze softened and his mouth pursed, "She may not want me as a student anymore..." He answered. "Not after I tell her the truth about me..."

"The truth," Nina said questioningly. She hummed a bit but didn't pry. She walked out and down the hall to sit at one of the tables smiling. Talia was no where to be seen in the main room.
If he searched he'd find her in the kitchen making breakfast once more. His gloves and headband would be sitting on the island behind her. She acknowledged his entry but remained quiet a moment.
"Your gloves and headband have been washed. You bleed too much pup," Talia said sitting a plate on the island for him. She made no move to continue he conversation. Rather she was ready to listen.

"The truth," Nina said questioningly. Miles nodded. She didn't push the matter and he watched her leave.
Miles sighed putting his paws to his hips, "Where is my gear?" He thought allowed.
He eventually gave up his search and made his way to the toilets. He checked his sharp teeth, smiling at himself in a mirror. He hadn't brushed them in two days. He immediately heard Eleanor scolding him and he chuckled to himself. "I'm going to need to buy a toothbrush...I left mine at home." He made his way out and down to the main room.
He couldn't find Talia and looked at Nina for a moment before making his way to the kitchen where he smelled something cooking.
He walked in and looked at her, when she acknowledged him he gave a small wave and small smile with concerned eyes. He noticed his equipment and walked over to it. They looked different, he brushed his fingers on them.
"Your gloves and headband have been washed. You bleed too much pup,"
Miles looked at her and frowned as she placed his food on the table. He looked down at his equipment and left them. He sat down to eat. He remained quiet eating slow and the silence between them was finally broken after Miles worked up the courage.
"Talia I..." he began, putting down his utensil. "I'm sorry." He looked at her with a sad expression.
"I am not the prodigy you were hoping for. My father and I...we're not the same." He looked at his scarred knuckles.
"I was born...with weak paws. They were bandaged until I was four. My dad is my hero and all I've ever wanted was to be his student. I would punch pillows and my sisters stuffed animals as training sessions with my dad. I know now he was just playing." Miles was to ashamed to look to Talia, he traced circles on the island.
"I told my family that I wanted to box. Tour like my dad and...my mom and sisters were against it. My paws were never made to box. Even behind gloves, prolonged punching....caused them damage. I was disheartened, but my dad didn't give up on me. He pushed for me to do this as long as I was sure." Miles closed his paw.
"My mom and sisters are still against it...but with my dad's influence, they support me. So, that is why I started this journey. I know it's possible I may damage my paws beyond repair one day, but I don't want that fear to hold me back." Miles looked at Talia.
"I may never win a championship...so...I understand if you'd like me to leave. I will respect that and...take my journey eleswhere. You deserve a fighter who can do great things." Miles said dropping his head.
"My dad did not raise me to be a champion like him."

"Talia I..." he began, putting down his utensil. "I'm sorry." Talia raised a brow as she finally joined him. He was ready to talk so she was ready to listen.
"I figured as much," Talia said sighing. "No parent wants to see their child in pain. Very few raise fighting heirs these days. It is a long gone practice. Instead those with iron fists come in and try to become the strongest. It isn't a matter of strength or right and wrong. It is a matter of bettering yourself."
Talia stared at the wall a moment. "Fighters are made not born nor raised. The events of your life make you who you are pup. You were not raised a fighter but have the heart of one. That will only take you so far. Even those with hearts of gold eventually die," she paused as though reminiscing about something. "I will train you no matter what pup. It is up to you to figure out how far you are willing to go. Because once those paws are broken. Not only will you no longer be able to box but the simplest tasks like holding your fork will become a challenge of its own."
She has seen it all. From those paralyzed from a broken neck, brain damage, broken hands or shoulders, and even death. She knew the ring better than anyone. She took digimon and trained them just to watch them suffer. Sometimes that suffering was too much and in the end even hell seemed like heaven.
"There is one thing you must promise though," she started again. "Even if those paws are broken and you can no longer fight. You must still fight for your life. You find something to live for and hold it closer than anything else in this world."

Instead those with iron fists come in and try to become the strongest. It isn't a matter of strength or right and wrong. It is a matter of bettering yourself." Miles looked up and her with inquiring eyes.
"Fighters are made not born nor raised. The events of your life make you who you are pup. You were not raised a fighter but have the heart of one. That will only take you so far. Even those with hearts of gold eventually die," Miles tilted his head, he had done this because his heart had lead him. Miles Sr, had told him that was all he needed.
"I will train you no matter what pup. It is up to you to figure out how far you are willing to go. Because once those paws are broken. Not only will you no longer be able to box but the simplest tasks like holding your fork will become a challenge of its own." Miles saddened at that very real possibility. Maybe his dream wasn't worth living. He had to consider that at least.
"There is one thing you must promise though," Miles looked back to her, "hm?" He questioned. "Even if those paws are broken and you can no longer fight. You must still fight for your life. You find something to live for and hold it closer than anything else in this world." Miles thought about it and crossed his arm.
"I'm not sure I know anything else except this...I wouldn't even know where to search for something like that....but I promise if that ever happens...I'll search for it." He gave her a smile and picked up his fork to continue his breakfast.
"Thanks for not kicking me out..." He said.

"Like I would pup. You're still just clay right now. I'll mold you into a fine fighter yet. Who knows with enough experience when you evolve your paws may be harder than steel," Talia said smirking and began eating for herself. She ate in silence but would listen to him if he continued to talk.
By the time they were done and headed back into the main gym Nina was gone. They still had some time before the Battle arena started. Talia pushed him to try and finis those rugs up. She didn't want him to think she had gone soft after all.

"Like I would pup. You're still just clay right now. I'll mold you into a fine fighter yet. Who knows with enough experience when you evolve your paws may be harder than steel," One could only hope, Miles thought but his evolution wouldn't be anytime soon. He was young.
Miles got to talking to Talia, the child that he was showing, he spoke to her about his sisters and funny moments. He told her stories of his father behind the scenes and how much of a goofball he was. He spoke for quite some time, not letting Talia say a word otherwise.
Finally, he had finished and they headed back into the main room. He armed himself and looked to Talia, forgetting Nina had even been there, and she told him to get back to it. He was unawares of her plans to take him to the arena and decided to pound the rugs, this time being bandaged by Talia instead. He wasn't very good at that sort of thing.
He took her critiques and direction and he punched with passion and drive and determination. His grunts after each impact louder and firmer than the last. He did as much as he could before he felt the pain in his paws again, he shook them and removed his gloves. They were still bandaged and were fine for the time being.
"I think I'm okay...I managed to beat the last rug without hurting myself." Miles turned to look at her. "What's next coach!?" He said more determined then ever. He was so happy to have found someone who would look past his defect and help him. With nothing left to hide, he was raring to go.

Talia watched him as he checked his paws. Her bandages were holding who knew how many of those bandages she has done in her lifetime now. His question of what was next made her look to the clock. The matches should be ready to begin. The announcers were probably almost done announcing everyone that would be there tonight and their matches.
"Now we head to the Battle arena and watch some blood be drawn," Talia said motioning him to ready himself to leave. She went around locking everything down then waiting for him by the front door to head out when he was ready. Once he was she'd flip the sign to closed and shut the door locking the deadbolt into place. Not that it did much in the face of broken windows. They would start down the well worn dirt road.

"Now we head to the Battle arena and watch some blood be drawn,"
Miles face perked up and his tail began to wag, he loved going to the battle arenas. He had been to so many different ones. "Alright!" He cheered jumping up and down, it was easy to forget he was still a child. "I can't wait to see it!" He ran to meet Talia at the front door, his tail never faltering.
He followed her down the road to their next destination.
