Ban hopped in as if he were some rabbit, his tail wagging happily behind and he stopped when he saw his father and Cole in the center of the room. Cole was on a knee and was breathing heavily and Cora stood over breathing just as hard. Both were covered in minor wounds.
Ban was confused and turned his head to look at the rest of his group following in after. Kemba was next to enter and looked at Cora and Cole, "Seems they're sparring." Kemba said. Don looked on and thought, "By their appearance, they've been sparring for a while." Kaa nodded.
Cole clenched his sword and stood, "Hrrrraaaah!!!" He charged Cora swinging his sword to which Cora blocked with his claws, grasping each side of the blade before it came down on his head. They remained deadlocked for a moment before Cora over powered Cole, throwing his sword down to the right side of his body and with a mighty trembling roar that shook the room Cora grabbed Cole by his neck and lifted him. He slammed him hard into the ground, creating a crater. Cole's air was struck from his body and he writhed in pain.
Cora's mouth sparked with blue embers and it seemed as if Cora would kill Cole which made the triplets a bit uneasy. "Uh you sure they're training?" Kaa questioned. Ban cowered seeing his father like that and Don's eyes widened, "Blue Prominence!" He fired a blue fireball at close quarters and it exploded, sending a cloud of dust through out the room. The many guards nearby covered their faces. "Did Cora just!?" Kemba said. There was a moment of silence and the cloud of dust settled, revealing a deep black scorch mark on the ground next to Cole's head.
Cole's eye looked to it and he let out a sigh, "You're dead. I win again Cole." Cora said releasing his grip on Coles throat, Cole rubbed his neck and sat up. "That's three losses to zero wins. It seems I am no longer worthy of being your mentor. You're fiercer then I remember and incredibly skilled. I never would have imagined you would wind up so strong." Cora helped Cole to his feet. "After you left, Midas and I fought every day. We never stopped training and then when I overthrew my father for the throne, I learned what a life or death match was. Like you told me when I was a boy, I am naturally gifted." Cora said.
So Cora overthrew Gale? That was not something Kemba knew. Kaa let out the breath he had been holding, "Dad....is scary. I thought something serious had happened..." Ban nodded, "I don't like this daddy." Don sighed, "It's only temporary Ban I promise. As soon as we end the war, dad will return to normal." Ban looked at Don, "Really?" Don nodded a yes.
Cora noticed the children and smiled, "Good morning....what brings you down here?" Cora asked. Cole looked to them as well, "Good morning Princes, Kemba...son."

Theos walked in to see two warriors fighting for their lives. Their gazes matched in intensity of the battle as they clashed together. Rivulets of blood running down their scales as gravity pulled at it. This was the sight of the beginnings of war. It left Theos speechless and his ears twitching in response to their every sound. His nose taking in the scent of sweat and blood mingling. His eyes focused on the pair as Cora got the upper hand grabbing Cole by his throat. He was pushed into the ground with so much force that the ground had to yield to them.
Ike did not share Theos awe. If anything he was beginning to shake. He did not like seeing his father like this. Scomparsians were raised to fight all their lives. They had to be ten times stronger than Cora. Yet if his father couldn't beat him how did he expect to survive the war?
"Uh you sure they're training?" Ike yelped as the blast was launched. His shaking only getting worse. Until the dust cleared and he sat with a hefty thump and his head hanging in relief. His body still trembling lightly.
"You're dead.
Theos was just as relieved as everyone else. He let out a sigh. They couldn't expect them to be soft on them in the battlefield. They could die in an instant just like that. It left his stomach with a faint churning.
"Dad....is scary. I thought something serious had happened..." Ban nodded, "I don't like this daddy." Don sighed, "It's only temporary Ban I promise. As soon as we end the war, dad will return to normal." Ban looked at Don, "Really?" Don nodded a yes.
"Good morning....what brings you down here?" Cora asked. Cole looked to them as well, "Good morning Princes, Kemba...son."
Ike wasted no time getting up and rushing over to hug on to his dads leg. He didn't know what he would do without him and the very thought was despicable. Once he had learned the truth about his dad he wanted to be as strong as him. Now though he wondered if that was enough.
"We came down here to train with everyone," Theos responded his tail swaying slightly. "We want to protect our home."

Cole knelt and hugged his son, the smell of his sweat and blood was strong so he didn't hug him for very long. "We came down here to train with everyone," Cora looked to his sons who looked determined. "We want to protect our home." Cora shook his head.
"Absolutely not." He said firmly, Kemba expected this kind of reaction from Cora. His big heart would have to be bent to let them participate in the battles, "You six do not need to concern yourselves with something as messy as war. This is something me and my men need to do. You're all this kingdoms pride and joy...you're my pride and joy. I will not allow you to be placed in harms way!" He said standing tall.
"Cora, with all do respect, this is a decision we decided together and won't to see through to the end. This is our home like Theos said, we made a promise to the people and we want to make good on it." Kemba said. "As heir, I want to show the people that when I take the throne, I can be just as strong and reliable as you!" Kaa stated.
Don nodded, "Coraggio is supposed to be a safe haven for many. That is why Cole brought Ike here and not to some other nation. I want to show him and the people that they'll always be safe even when a bully like Scomparsa threatens us. I can be valuable. I've studied many battle manuals and learned different stratagem. You need someone to match wits with Stall, and I'm up to the task." Don added.
Ban looked to his father still a bit scared, "I wanna make daddy happy again." He said.
Cora shook his head and looked at them, "You are my children, do not ask me to put you in such danger. I will keep you all safe and keep the Scomparsians out of our home. None of you are near capable enough to handle this kind of thing, I mean you honestly want me to put Ban in front of blood thirsty killers?" Cora turned from them.
"This is not up for debate, the final matter on this is no." Cora said. Kaa Kemba Don and Ban all dropped their heads. It seemed Cora was firm in his protection. Kemba looked at Theos, "This is where love can become cumbersome."
Cole looked at the children understanding their drive to want to help, he looked down at his son and stroked his head. "What do you want to do son?"

He was telling a harsh truth to be sure but they all knew there was no chance of Ban being on the frontlines.
"This is not up for debate, the final matter on this is no." Theos ears went back and his chest puffed a bit, "This is where love can become cumbersome."
"What do you want to do son?"
"I want to be strong like you," Ike replied. "I know I can't be on the front lines. I am too weak for that but I do want to help."
"We all do," Theos followed up. "Cora you are wanting to protect us and we get that. Your a father and a king and you put family first. That has made a loving family and a strong one. Let us prove that strength to you. Let us train with the soldiers and prove our strength and at the end of all this training you can test us. If we fail then we fail. We can't complain any more because we would know then and there that we put our entire beings into proving ourselves not only to ourselves but to you and the kingdom."

"I want to be strong like you," Cole smiled, "I know I can't be on the front lines. I am too weak for that but I do want to help." He stroked his son and hugged him again. "We all do," Cora turned his head eyeing the firm stand from Theos.
Cole stood holding his son in his arms, cradling him. "Cora, did you know why I trained you so harshly with Midas when you were both young?" Cora looked at him, "It was because if war ever came to our kingdom, I wanted you and Midas to be ready to defend the place you both had built so many memories. Knowing that even if we were to fail, you had did everything you could to win. Yggdrasil forbid we lose and these kids see Scomparsians marching on Coraggio? It would be better for them to fight along side us. Where they can help and be the most useful and they can know that they are doing all they can to save their home." Cole looked at his son and touched his face to Ike's.
"Do you think I want Ike on the battlefield? I would send him far from war. That is my first instinct but it would strain his heart not knowing if his dad was alive or dead every day. It is enough to make him ill." He pulled his face away. "I am going to take Ike with me and assign him a task he can be useful with. Preparing meals or fetching medicines, things like that. Not just for him but for me to because coming back to camp every day after a grueling battle and seeing my little boy's face will give me the power I need to go out the next day. Don't you think the same?" Cole asked.
Cora closed his eyes and turned back to look at them, "No. I don't think the same. Knowing they're safe back in the castle is what will keep me going. I will not risk their lives." Cole shook his head, Cora was so thick headed even as a boy.
"However, they can show me that I am just being overprotective. They can prove to me that if they know how to survive, then I will bite down my broken heart and carry them with me into battle." Cora said looking at them giving a firm look.
Kemba smiled, "All Theos and I know how to do is survive! We can do this." He said. Kaa cracked his knuckles, "Magi has trained us and he trained us well. We will prove it to you." Don nodded.
They made their way to the middle of the floor, Kemba eyeing the guards who all seemed intimidating. He was confident that he'd be able to handle them though, especially with Theos's help.
Kaa and Don followed, "We aren't like we were in the mirror world, we have to show our skills here." Don said Kaa laughed, "Of course." They turned their head to see Ban at their side. "Ban? You don't have to fight." Don said. "I...I want to. I wanna make a difference." He said.
"You guys always fight for me...but I wanna be strong to protect you too. Theos is strong and I want to be like him." Kaa and Don looked at each other. "If you're sure Ban..."
Kemba looked at Theos, "Let's show them our renewed strength." He said reaching for his sword and twirling it.
Cole looked at Ike and move away from the field, "I don't expect you to fight. I will train you after the war, I promise. You'll be strong like me."
"So dad, which guard will we be fighting?" Don asked. Cora had not moved from his spot, "Guard? Who said anything about a guard. I'm your opponent. You'll all be fighting me." His voice got gradually louder and he let out a monstrous roar that caused the guards to even tremble. He had a firm and sharp look that pierced the bone, his battered body still wet from the sweat. Fear overtook every one of the boys,
"Wha...what?" Kaa said Ban began to cry and Don's legs began to shake. Kemba's eyes widened and his heart began to beat faster, it was like looking at death. Cora bore his teeth, his ferocious look gazing on helpless prey, his strong tail hovering in the air and his claws positioned outward.
"This isn't for real....right?" Kaa questioned. Even Cole was confused, would Cora go so far as to challenge them himself?

Theos was grateful for Cole's imput.
"Do you think I want Ike on the battlefield? I would send him far from war. That is my first instinct but it would strain his heart not knowing if his dad was alive or dead every day. "No. I don't think the same. Knowing they're safe back in the castle is what will keep me going. I will not risk their lives." Theos ears flicked irritably.
"However, they can show me that I am just being overprotective. They can prove to me that if they know how to survive, then I will bite down my broken heart and carry them with me into battle." Cora said looking at them giving a firm look.

Kemba looked at Theos, "Let's show them our renewed strength." Theos nodded in response standing at his side.
"I don't expect you to fight. I will train you after the war, I promise. You'll be strong like me."
Ike thought about it and nodded. He knew the basics from what his father taught him in Scomparsa. He could at least defend himself if push came to shove. Being in an open battle though he would probably freeze up.
"So dad, which guard will we be fighting?" Theos also looked to Cora questioningly, "Guard? Who said anything about a guard. I'm your opponent. You'll all be fighting me." Theos fur prickled at the sound. They were going to fight him?
"Wha...what?" Theos frowned at this realization. Though most of the army was going to be adults anyway. They had to be able to do their share of killing...Though fighting one you loved was twice as hard as not.
"This isn't for real....right?"
Right then.....Theos nudged Kemba and took point. Cora was probably on the same level as Ara the way he took down Theos dark self. Which meant Kemba's blade would be useless head on without the triplets. They didn't seem willing to fight their father... so they had to find a weak spot. He was already wounded from his bought with Cole which left him open in any of his wounds. That was where Theos would aim.
Cora was big and strong but even he could only last so long in the face of blood loss. If they could take out his legs he would be further vulnerable. They were smaller and therefore faster. Even if he had a wider reach and stronger punch it would mean nothing if he couldn't hit them.
Theos ran forward and weaved away from any attack he might make. Maybe even going between his claws. Once he as close enough he'd eye for a leg wound and latch on biting down then quickly letting go to flee before he was swatted away. He then would try to repeat it only this time being wary of not being stepped on. He would dodge away if Cora lifted his leg up.

BOSS BATTLE START!
King Cora Level ?
VS.
Theos Level 31
Kemba Level 35
Kaa (Treated as Child) Level 29
Don (Treated as Child) Level 27
Ban (Treated as Child) Level 13
Cora watched Theos approach and he was able to follow his movements easily he didn't bother trying to avoid Theos. He waited until the moment Theos leaped to bite at his leg and kicked up at him with considerable force. If it connected, it would be felt in every bone and send him airborne. If it connected, Kemba's eyes would widen and he'd run forward leaping into the air to catch Theos in his arms. "Theos!!" He'd cry, catching him would send him back with a thud to the ground. "Are you okay!?" Kemba would ask cringing from the pain of the fall.
Kaa, Don and Ban would be shocked by their father's actions. He was really serious, "Fighting dad....for real...?" Kaa said his body trembling. Ban looked at Theos and frowned, "I don't wanna fight anymore." He said. Don was trembling as well, what was their father thinking? Was he so adamant about them staying behind he was willing to harm them to do it? Where was their loving father that bathed and ate and played with them? This wasn't him. It was a completely different digimon, he was fiercer then even mirror Cora.
It was hopeless. Don looked at their father who stood waiting for them to make a move. He then caught a glimpse of Ike cradled with Cole and remembered why he was here. "I'm afraid." Don said his brothers looking to him, "But I decided in my heart that I would do this. I made a promise and I intend to keep it even if my father stands in my way." Don clenched his claws.
"Right now...he isn't dad he is an enemy combatant that seeks to rob me of my promise I made and even if the odds seem hopeless....I will stand up to him!" Don looked at his brothers, "Kaa and Ban....this is a time where we can show father that we're not just his sons to love but we can also be his brothers in arms. We are proud princes of Coraggio and we will defend this kingdom one way or another." Kaa and Ban looked at one another and Kaa sighed.
"When the middle child is braver then the heir it makes me look bad. You're right Don...this is my chance to show dad that I can be a worthy successor." Kaa glared at his father his trembling body had calmed. Ban dropped his head, "I still don't want to find dad but I want to make everyone happy like Theos said I could. I-I'll do it too!" Ban pumped his clenched claws but his knees were still trembling.
Kemba would rise up, holding Theos until he could regain his composure. "Seems the triplets found their resolve again. We will need to approach this differently..." Kemba said glaring down at Cora whose tail slowly wagged back and forth. Light blue embers sparking from his maw. "Are you all going to stand there yapping? In life or death battles, you won't have that luxury!" He yelled. He arched himself forward and pushed off his feet, it was like he had disappeared.
A complete blur and then he was standing over them, everyone's heads slowly turned up unable to follow Cora's swift movements. His ferocious figure slamming down a fist into the earth around them, the shock wave of the impact creating a crater and kicking up debris. It dispersed the children sending them hard in different directions, Kaa slammed into a wall his spines shattering on impact and getting imprinted into the wall. His bones rattled and his lungs expelled all of their air, he was sure something was broken.
Don fell hard into the spectators, a massive cloud of dust erupting from where the guards dispersed. He laid in his hole, stunned and bleeding from his head. Ban also slammed into the wall opposite Kaa, he hit chest first knocking the air from his lungs and fracturing multiple ribs. The pain rippling across his body bringing tears to his eyes and a whimper from his mouth.
Kemba's first instinct was to grab Theos, but Cora was to fast and he flew into a nearby rack of weapons destroying them and he laid there among the spears and swords he opened his eye to view the mighty King stand where he had just flown from and release another roar.
"This is war!! This could very well be your first battle!! An impossible opponent! How do you expect to survive? The difference between me and those Scomparsians is that all I want to do is break your bodies. They'll want to kill you all." Cora said looking to each individual.
Cole had covered Ike's ears and head, protecting him from the debris and loud painful roaring of Cora. "Cora is going way to far with his point." Cole said, "But...I know what he's trying to teach them...I just hope they understand soon and end this." Cole added.
Kemba raised from his spot and picked up his sword, holding his side. "Theos....we should use our special move." He called out. "We need the triplets...."

Theos breath had been knocked from his body and he gasped for air as Kemba fretted over him. He tried calming himself so his breathing could come easier. He could hear the triplets faintly but he focused on regaining his composure. He wormed slightly to check his bones. The sounds of battle urging him to get up. He got up a little unsteadily just as Kemba went flying. He looked back and then around the room at everyone. He was amazed that in a single instant hey were all down. His ears went back and he snarled at Cora fur on end.
"This is war!! This could very well be your first battle!! An impossible opponent! How do you expect to survive? The difference between me and those Scomparsians is that all I want to do is break your bodies. They'll want to kill you all." Theos shook a bit. It was all very true their first battle could be their last.
"Cora is going way to far with his point." Cole said, "But...I know what he's trying to teach them...I just hope they understand soon and end this." Cole added.
"Theos....we should use our special move." He called out. "We need the triplets...."
One look around the room told him it was impossible. They couldn't risk all being in the same place and meeting up with the others may be impossible with his speed. He had purposefully separated them. To remove all possibilities of them ganging up on him. Not to mention they were in no condition now.
Theos shook his head letting himself settle. "Point taken," he said bitterly. This was pointless and could end up hurting them much more than them hurting him.

"Point taken," Cora looked at Theos and snorted steam from his snout. He looked around the room at his sons and then to Kemba. Kaa had fallen from his hole and his body shook as he tried to rise, Don stood from his crater, closing his eye so the blood from his wound wouldn't flow into his eye. Ban was on his back holding his chest writhing about, and Kemba was dragging his sword behind him as he made his way towards Theos.
Cora shook his head, "Then it is settled. You all will remain here in Coraggio where I know it will be safe." His expression and voice saddened and his fierceness was gone. "I can't lose you....I'm sorry but...this is my order. Perhaps in time, you will learn to forgive my selfish actions." Cora's head dropped and he turned for the exit.
"I have lost my taste for battle...I am going to take a hot bath and rest. Cole I leave the rest to you." Cora let out a defeated sigh and left the hall. Kemba sat down next to Theos, "Beaten so easily..." He removed his paw from his side noticing a gash from a spear that cut him on his fall. "Well that explains the stinging and warm sensation."
Don moved over to them as well, "Father, he must not be feeling to well right now...beating us up. I get it though, what he was trying to do. Keep us from joining him on the battlefield by showing how inexperienced we are."
Kaa moved over to Ban, passing the group. "It huuuuurts...." Ban cried out, "I know Ban." Kaa helped his brother to his feet. "I hurt too."
Cole moved over putting Ike down next to them and looked to the guards, "Alright men...all of you head out to the courtyard and do some sparring there." He said dismissing the guard. Cole turned to look at them, "Ike, go fetch Magi please." He asked.
"No need, I was watching." Magi said appearing from a flash of light. Cole looked at him, "Well hello there." Magi smiled and floated down, "I know how serious sparring can get whenever Cora is involved. I make it a point to sit in on every one of his sparring matches." He looked over at the children, "He certainly didn't hold back did he? No matter, I'll have you all patched up in a few moments." Magi held out his hands and a green field of energy surrounded them and it began to slowly heal them.
He knelt down so he could look at the physically and spirit broken kids. "Cora was not trying to bully you into submission. He has always had a fault of having to big a heart and I think Midas was to blame for that. Perhaps I helped make him into that as well. You all understand that Cora was playing an impossible opponent, I don't have to tell you that, but what you should have shown him that he was desperately trying to see from you was how you were going to survive against odds like that." Cole shook his head.
"He just went about it the wrong way. He makes a poor teacher but a great father, friend and king." Cole sighed, "It's not about inexperience. More then half of my troops are inexperienced and do not know what a real battle is and they're afraid. The difference between them and you is that they have real training." Cole took a moment to look them all over.
"Does anyone know what Cora was trying to get you to learn?" Cole asked. He was very soft spoken and consoling. Don thought about it and so did Kaa, Kemba shook his head "Against an impossible opponent, how would we survive?" Kemba asked the question and gave it thought.

More then half of my troops are inexperienced and do not know what a real battle is and they're afraid. The difference between them and you is that they have real training." Theos had not trained as they were to be sure. Though he had been in countless battles.
"Does anyone know what Cora was trying to get you to learn?" Theos looked to the ground in thought. "Against an impossible opponent, how would we survive?" Kemba asked the question and gave it thought.
"To know our own limits," Theos said. "Cora was more than we could handle....we have to know when to fight and when to retreat. Even if we don't want to. No matter how strong our spirit we can't rely on it alone to get us through." Theos looked to Cole. His aches having faded he shook his body.
"Even if we don't earn the right to be on the battlefield we should still train just in case," Theos said looking around the room. "I'm not giving up. We have to learn and adapt and survive. Cora can beat me down as much as he likes but at the end of the day I'll be a little stronger. He also needs to toughen up fighting us it broken his heart. Fighting them...while he holds no love for them they also have families and children. Many of them also know love like we do. It would hurt him to see a child crying because he killed their father because he is one."

"To know our own limits," Theos said. "Cora was more than we could handle....we have to know when to fight and when to retreat. Even if we don't want to. No matter how strong our spirit we can't rely on it alone to get us through." Cole smiled as Theos gave the right answer. Don was surprised he didn't pick up on that, it was basic fight or flight. "Aw...you stole my answer." Kemba said his side feeling a lot better.
Kaa looked at Ban who was feeling his chest, it seemed his pain had gone as well.
"Even if we don't earn the right to be on the battlefield we should still train just in case," Cole stood back up, "I'm not giving up. We have to learn and adapt and survive. Cole laughed at Theos a bit, "Cora is as tough as he gets, don't worry about him. The only family he cares about is his own. He's prepared to bare the hatred of the families he destroys to win this war. Though I promise you with that answer, Cora will let you join us on the battlefield. You five must appeal to Cora though, prove to him that his lesson session was successful after all. I doubt you all know about his father but, King Gale was not kind to Cora. Cora was often beaten to near unconsciousness by his father. I cannot imagine he is feeling to good doing what he just did." Magi nodded.
"It probably destroyed him inside." He added. All but Ike did know and it was brought back to their remembrance their time in the mirror world. Kemba stood feeling completely rejuvenated by Magi's sorcery, "It not only taught us a valuable lesson about survival but oddly enough, I feel a bit tougher as a result." Kemba said.
Magi laughed, "That's just your muscles tensing up as a result of the magic." Kemba stuck his tongue out making a comical expression.

"It probably destroyed him inside." Theos had to agree. He hoped they could reassure him enough.
"It not only taught us a valuable lesson about survival but oddly enough, I feel a bit tougher as a result." Kemba said.
Magi laughed, "That's just your muscles tensing up as a result of the magic." Theos chuckled at Kemba.
"We should go to him like Cole said. He probably does feel terrible and we did push him a bit," Theos did want to apologize to him. He had pushed him too far without considering that he may take it upon himself to teach them such a valuable lesson. He hoped to learn many more from Cora. He had asked him to teach him everything he knew.
"Thanks," Theos said to both Cole and Magi. His tail thumping the ground slightly. He had to wonder if he had really learned nothing from Magi though. They had all been a little selfish not just Cora.

"We should go to him like Cole said. He probably does feel terrible and we did push him a bit," The boys looked down considering Theos's words. "Yes....If anything to show him he did teach us what he wanted." Don said turning to Ike. "Will you be staying here with Cole?" He asked.
Ban looked to Kaa, "I hope we didn't hurt dad to badly." Ban asked. "With how strong he is? He's probably way better off then we are." Kaa said trying to encourage his brother.
Kemba sheathed his sword and would wait for them to leave.
"Thanks," Magi nodded, "It's my pleasure as always Prince Theos." He smiled. "If you convince Cora, come back here and I'll put you through some of my training." Cole said giving a thumbs up.
"First we gotta find the big lug." Kemba stated.

Ike nodded, "It's not really my place. You should go talk with your family." Ike responded with a faint smile.
Ban looked to Kaa, "I hope we didn't hurt dad to badly." Ban asked. "With how strong he is? He's probably way better off then we are." Kaa said trying to encourage his brother.

"My guess is bedroom or the garden it is nice and peaceful in both places. He is probably reflecting on what happened," Theos said his tail slightly wagging. He started for the door hoping he was there.

"Last time dad was upset with something he did, he went to his bedroom to rest. I think Theos is right to check there." Don looked at Ike and nodded, "Then we will see you soon."
Kemba head for the door behind Theos, "Huh...this will be the first time inside Cora's bedroom. I'm kind of nervous." Ban laughed, "We were hatched in there! It's big!" He said last one out the door.
Cole looked down to Ike and stroked his head, "I'm glad you and royals are becoming friends. You were invited by Prince Don to sleep in their chamber I was told. I'm so glad you're fitting in here. Is it nice having royals befriend instead of abuse?" Cole asked.
