His fathers wings cut the air gliding just below the canopy. Weaving his way between the trees towards their final destination. It took awhile but he finally stopped. His hooves stirring the leaves with a crunch as he landed. Roughly half a dozen other digimon stood around talking one of which would be familiar to Kester. All of them waiting for darkness to encroach upon them. The bugs had numbers so for them they were going to do what beasts did best. Hunt at night using gorilla warfare tactics.
Kester's father let him down before walking into the group. He talked with them about the protection for the caravan leaving the forest. They each began tossing around ideas and plans about dealing with the threat of the swarms.
Meanwhile another familiar face approached Kester. She smiled at him a bit glad he was safe. "Decided to join the fight," Melissa asked sitting beside him.

Kester's floppy ears perked up a tad at the far sight of the congragation of beast types. He carefully stood on his fathers shoulder blade to scan the crown for any familiar faces. As they got close, his careful vision easily picked up the small Bearmon and her Leomon father in the crowd. What was her name? Matilda? Taressa? What ever. It wasnt his concern at the moment.
Once they landed, Kester was quick to jump off, watching as his father went off to talk about stradegies. Part of his wanted to be apart of the adult conversation, but knew if he pushed his way in, they wouldnt listen to a word he said. Instead he opted to move a tad closer and settle down to listen idlely with one ear in case he caught important words.
It didnt take long however for a familiar voice to get his attention. The bearmon from before had come over and once she mentioned the fight, Kester couldnt help but shrug. "Just trying to protect what I own..." He tried to hide his excitement for a fight, although Melissa would probably notice his tail beat lightly behind him.

"In the end that is all most of us are trying to do," Melissa said looking out over the group. She was a bit more somber at the prospect of fighting. For food was one thing but in an all out war that was something completely different.
"You sound excited though. You should be careful being excited for a fight is one thing but it is a short trip to enjoy killing. Killing is only right for the sake of food nothing more," Melissa said. She was pretty sure she sounded like her father just then. He was a wise digimon that was why he had survived so long despite his species.

Kester glanced towards her and gave a small nod. The forest was occupied by many different digimon. Although the bugs outnumbered them by large numbers, many of the other digimon are going to refuse to leave what they owned.
Once she caught on to his excitement, Kester was shot from his thoughts and he consciously stopped his tail from wagging giving an annoyed huff. "You shouldn't kill for fun, I know that." The Salamon looked away from Melissa and gave a soft growl. "Killing for revenge though.... And to protect something you care about... Theres /nothing/ wrong with that..."

Melissa sighed there was no point in arguing. He is one of those thick skulled boys her father warned her about. Said they were nothing but trouble in every way. Melissa believed it especially for Kester.
"There is but I'm sure you'll figure that out on your own. No use in listening to a bear that can't even roar right," Melissa huffed and walked away head high like she was snuffing him.
"Got a terrible way with women I see," Kesters father said coming up behind him. He chuckled. "They can be just as stubborn as men. You should be careful though. A woman's vengeance is not something you want trust me."
"So was she your friend or are we looking for someone else?"

Kester raised an eyebrow as she turned away from him. He'll figure it out on his own? He bared his teeth, a small growl escaping him as she wandered off. She didnt understand... It was obvious to him. She was going to leave and not care what happened to their home.
"Got a terrible way with woman I see,"
Kester immediately turned to look at his father, giving a small chuckle at his words. "Oh Im sure I can handle any woman! I do take after you after all, right dad?" If his father could deal with his mother, he was sure he could deal with any woman who dared to scorn him.
At the question of his friend, Kester stood to all fours and shook his head. "No... The one were looking for isnt native to the woods. We met yesterday and he followed me back into here... We got seperated last night and I dont know where he would be..."

"Oh I'm sure I can handle any woman! I do take after you after all, right dad?"His father chorkled a bit. He wouldn't say he handled his mother.
"Maybe he went home then. Unless the bugs got him. If he doesn't know the woods he is most likely dead. Best forget him," his father said sadly shaking his head. "No matter it seems most of the digimon are here --" his father was cut off as a fangmon approached.
"What's this? I thought I smelled something familiar. A little puppy that was hiding in the roots," the fangmon said its long mouth curved into a devilish smile. "Didn't expect to see you again so soon. That garurumon was very tasty," its eyes shone with a uncontained mischief.
"You best watch your step vixen," Kesters father said to her. She smirked but made no move to approach any closer than she already had.

Kester shot his father a small glare upon him saying that Ace was most likely dead. He stomped his front paw, leaves shifting around from the movement. "Hes not dead! If he's dead, it's my fault and I am not allowing that!" He didnt want to be haunted by this his entire life. A small, aggrivated growl escaped from his maw but as his father was distracted, so was him. Heterochromic eyes looked towards the new digimon, and as they landed on the approaching Fangmon, Kester felt his fur stand on end.
He carefully moved to be behind one of his fathers leg, not exactly hiding his existent but placing the Unimon between him and the predator. The ring around his neck started to spin, a soft golden glow coming from it. As the Fangmon spoke, Kester gave a loud ground, baring his much smaller teeth at the much larger wolf. However, when she mentioned the Garurumon, Kester's hackles lowered and he stopped growling. He made a short huff and looked away from her.
"Thanks for saving me, wolf... Even if it was a battle for my life." He made a small growl there, not moving from the safety of his father. A thought occurred to him however, and once it did, he moved around his fathers hoof to stand in front of the Fangmon. "Im just curious though. You wouldnt have happened to see a chicken half out of his egg while you were on the hunt, have you?" Usually he wouldnt ask such a large predator but with his father right behind him, he wasnt very worried about being eaten.

"Wolf? I think you must be blind boy. This lithe frame is all fox and none of that brute," She scoffed glaring at Kester. "You won't have answer from me boy. Not without something in return.....Though I doubt your father would agree," she said her pearly whites glinting devilishly.
"Damn right," he snorted one hoof pawing the ground threateningly.
"Best learn to use your nose like the dog that you are," she said mockingly as she walked away.
"Some digimon we could do without," Kesters father said watching her tail sway. "Avoid her kind no matter what. The hunters of the forest....they are down right evil."
"Did I hears talk of a chicken," A Neamon asked walking up. "I saw a bird in an egg heading west not far from the glowing pools." He gave a slight fart and turned red. "S-s-sorry comes with the species," he asked then walked away opening his paints to sniff then passing out.
"Neamon are such idiotic creatures.....you aren't going alone. Take your girlfriend with you," Kestersfather said his gaze going to the gathering. "It seems we are planning." He walked away leaving Kester to do what he wished.

Kester made a growl at the Fangmon once she corrected him. His fur stood on end, however, when she grinned those sharp teeth at him. His father was quick to throw her deal into the dirt, effectively making her walk off. Kesters fur relaxed ans he huffed, glaring at her back side as she left. "Stupid fox..."
His fathers words made him give a small laugh. He raised onto his hind legs and pushed against his father's ankle before he dropped back down. It was akin to a human shoulder nudge. "Theres a lot of hunters. With my size, Id have to watch out for everthing out in this forest, you know that." He gladly admitted it, although he didnt like it when someone showed him up.
One floppy ear lifted upward upon hearing a Digimon mention his description of Ace. He looked towards the Neamon, his upper lip lifting as he took in the smell. Ugh.... what a disgusting scent. But it meant that he had a lead on Ace. He was about to ask his father if he could go (no doubt going even if he said no), but when he mentioned his 'girlfriend'.
Kester felt heat rush to his cheeks at the proclomation. If it wasnt for his fur, his father would probably notice. "What girlfriend!? SHES NOT MY GIRLFRIEND DAD!" He groaned as his father walked away, sighing lightly. He looked around for the Bearmon either way. Hed need some kind of escort. Traveling with someone was always better then alone, even though he prefered it as the latter. It would make his dad feel better to.
He raised to all fours then started to go the way where Melissa headed, hoping to find her or her father in the group of beast digimon.

Melissa was sitting at the base of a tree watching her father with the others. There were very few children around her guess was most of them were going with there mothers to safety. It seemed like they were arguing once more. They really didn't agree on much just like her father said. They all had agreed to protect their home....but that was it. There was no chain of command and everyone had an opinion. She sighed at this rate they weren't going to get anywhere.
Her gaze went to Kester as he came around to her. "What do you want," she huffed pretending to look at her claw. Though in truth she was glad he had come around to meet her. It was kind of lonely just watching the adults.

Kester didnt bother paying attention to the constant arguing between all the adults. With so many of them trying to talk over each other, he wasnt able to catch on to any of the suggestions that people spoke. No use in staying here if all they were going to do was fought over what needed to be done. Once the Salamon found Melissa, he quickened him pace, arriving at her side in a short time.
The pup had to hold his tongue as she acted like she couldnt give a damn about him coming over. He wanted so bad to just growl at her and walk away, but he knew his father would be worried if he didnt bring a digimon with him. He took at deep breath to control his anger before speaking, voice rather calm compared to before. However, it also seemed monotonous in tone. "I was wondering if you'd like to accompany me to the glowing pools. I would go alone," His tone became irritated, a small sneer on his maw. " but my father doesn't want me going anywhere without someone. Would you like to come with?" His gaze had gone to a rather interesting moss covered rock, not being able to look at her directly as he asked

He wasn't asking very politely. Melissa had every right mind to refuse. However if she did he might go alone anyway because he was a stubborn boy. She couldn't let him do that. If she did and something happened to him she would feel partially responsible.
"No I wouldn't like to come," Melissa answered. "But you probably have a good reason for wanting to go there. Especially in the middle of all this. So I'll go with you to help keep you safe," Melissa responded. She knew he would protest the fact he needed her help but that didn't matter to her.
"Well what are we waiting for let's go," Melissa said trotting out ahead of him.

Kester's slight shock was evident as his eyes widened at her refusal. Did she really just-? A growl started to form in the back of his throat, upper lip lifting to reveal sharp teeth. His anger, however, was short lived as she continued her thought. Although he gave a small sneer and a huff at her saying she'd keep HIM safe. He gave a roll of his eyes.
"Please. You'd probably need me to keep you safe, not vise versa." The Salamon gave a small smirk at her as he turned on his heel, heading in the direction of the glowing pools. As they slowly stepped away into the darkness of the forest, his collar started to glow once again, an easy signal for her to tell where he was. He was quiet for a few minutes as they walked, making sure they kept to the right path while also keeping an eye out for ace. After a while of silence, he spoke up. "So why didnt you go and leave the forest like the others?" He just barely looked over his shoulder at her, continuously moving forward.

"Please. You'd probably need me to keep you safe, not vise versa." Yep just as she thought. Not that she minded. She dropped back slightly behind him as they walked.
"So why didnt you go and leave the forest like the others?"
"It's just me and my father. He feels a duty to help the forest he has lived in for so long. And I don't want to be alone," Melissa responded. "Neither one of us have much besides each other."
"What about you," she asks. "Why are you going to the glowing pools?"
