Every Digimon has an inherent ability that is part of its very being. Depending on what Ability your Digimon has, it will gain certain attributes that grant it increases and decreases to it's natural traits and habits. Each Ability has its own unique pros and cons. Abilities cannot be changed or altered, and stay consistent throughout the entire evolution process. So, for example, if a digimon is born with the Academic Ability, it can never have the Forager Ability later in its evolution. The abilities are as follows:
Hunter: Grants above average tracking and searching abilities. Usually includes heightened senses of smell, eyesight, and hearing, and enhanced reflexes. Privy on how to use the environment to its advantage to avoid detection, stalk the target, and potentially even use it as a weapon. Able to sense if being watched, but cannot always detect where the watcher is.
Analyst: Grants heightened accuracy and superior eyesight. Keen sense for when something does not belong. Does not guarantee that attacks will hit, but makes it easier to detect subtle changes, movement, as well as hidden or far off objects and people.
Forager: Grants a more in-tune sense of nature. Can easily locate and identify useful natural materials to use for a variety of purposes, such as food, medicine, or crafting. This ability inherently increases amount of money earned on quests by 1.5x. It also heightens your chances of successfully crafting. In battle, you are able to more precisely hide your presence, using the area around you for sneaking up on your enemies or surveying an area undetected. As far as overall combat ability, there is no obvious change. A jack of all trades, so to speak.
Academic: This ability grants you heightened experience upon finishing a quest by 1.5x for yourself and all party members. However, your overall combat abilities, such as reflexes, speed, and strength, will be lessened and you are more susceptible to damage from all types of attack. You have glass bones and paper skin, basically.
Please make sure when it comes to the combat portion of your abilities that you're keeping level differences in mind. For instance, a level 20 Hunter is not going to be able to track and stalk a level 50 Forager so easily. With that big a level difference, the Forager would be able to avoid the Hunter or pick them out of their hiding spot almost instantly. If a battle breaks out between these two, just because the Hunter has above average senses that benefit it in battle, the Forager still has more experience thus the Hunter has become the hunted. We want everyone to have free range when it comes to RPing so we are allowing everyone to use their own judgement. If you're unsure about a particular situation the Mods are here to help.
