Ace looked down in embarrassment. He did see something moving. But without an ability to describe what it was he might as well as blame his mind. That brief moment of darkness had shaken him something terrible. He followed the salamon once again.
"Bugs hide in the wood. We need to listen for any scratches or buzzing in the trees and roots." Ace nodded at this and began looking around s he listened. There was plenty of sounds now that he really focused on something other than darkness. Buzzing, snapping, rustling....it was like the forest was a living breathing thing in and of itself. Berries might be the better option....even as he thought it though his ears picked up a faint scratching sound. Like something burrowing into wood.
If Kester chose to approach the sound they would see a Dokunemon. It was burrowing into a stump with a lot of berries. behind it. No doubt storing it away to eat later. Ace stomach growled at the sight.
"We should go take those berries. No use killing something if we could get something to eat with less work," Ace said trying to find a way to sneak around and take them. His eyes had slowly adjusted to the lack of light but he still couldn't see well. And the constant shadows of the trees made it hard for him to determine where coverage was.

The sounds of the forest were something Kester was so used to, he barely picked up the constant buzzing and snapping of its multiple companions. Yet, his mind picked up each and every sound that resonated through the trees, tossing the unimportant aside and filtering through the sounds to find what they were looking for. Kester suddenly stopped where he was, his floppy ears lifting a tad at the distinct sound of scratching. Knowing just what that was, he started moving again, a low whisper directed towards Ace. "Stay quiet and follow me."
Kester stayed low, moving close to the ground and under the roots of the trees. Once his blue-green eyes locked onto the insect that was collecting berries for later. Kester smirked a bit and nodded towards Ace's suggestion about taking the berries and not starting any fights. He nodded to it and scanned the area around them.
"This way." The Salamon went towards the right, paws delicately pressing against the ground to not make a sound. He moved under arching roots and past tall foliage, keeping cover between him and the dokunemon. He slowly made his way behind the insect larva, moving as silent as he could and only hoping that Ace would be as quiet as he was.

Ace followed a little less gracefully. He still remained quiet but he had to constantly correct his steps not to make any noise. His eyes going from Kester to his feet and back again. As they stopped inches away from the berries the Dokunemon hopped off the tree. Grabbing and armful of berries it began stacking them into the hole it had made. Its attention was yet again on the hole but who knew for how long.
Ace couldn't wait any longer it's back was turned. He went out and grabbed several as quickly and quietly as he could. He snuck back for cover almost returning to the bush when he heard a cry. His gaze went back to see the angry Dokunemon glaring at him.
"Why you little sneak thief. Don't think you're getting away with those berries," the Dokunemon growled.
"Well it was the berries or your life. I figured you didn't want to give me that," Ace said his tough act yet again in place. He popped one in his mouth and dropped the rest ready for a fight. Secretly hoping either Kester would join him or take the berries while he detracted the bug.

Kester was about to tell him to wait but before he could even get the word out, the hyokomon was exiting the cover and collecting the berries. He was just about to make it back to him was Kester saw the dokunemon turned around. The Salamon flinched as Ace finally got caught and ducked more behind the bush they were under. He silently cursed in his mind at the hyokomon before sighing as Ace put on his tough boy act.
Kester quickly thought of a way to support Ace and made his way back around the two, keeping out of sight while Ace distracted the insect larva. Once he was on their original side of the dokunemon, Kester stepped out of the foliage, a smirk on his maw. "You should know thieves are common in these woods. How else do you expect us to survive?" As long as he wasn't caught in his plan, the dokunemon would find themselves stuck between the hyokomon and Salamon.
"Now, I suggest you hand over the berries. Wouldn't want to be food for my bird friend here, would you?" He was quickly trying to instill fear in the larva, just like Ace was attempting to do.

"You will become my prey instead bird," The Dokunemon said as it spit out a fine web. Ace dodged off to the side quickly his gaze scanning the area. Kester was nowhere to be seen. His wing brought out his sword ready to fight this bug.
Kester reappeared however sandwiching the DoKunemon between them. It let out a sound of despair. Thieves was probably it's worse nightmare right now with such a large hull. Ace had to smile a bit in relief that Kester hadn't abandoned him. Though he wouldn't have blame him if he had.
"That's right bug you are surrounded," Ace said pointing his sword at it.
"I'm not blind you idiot," the worm growled.
"Mimicry," it barked and faded away into the scenery. Ace blinked a few times and looked around. Did it leave? Suddenly a buzzing sound hit his ears. Dozens of tiny bugs no bigger than his nostril flew in.
"Thieves don't get any berries," the Dokunemon laughed as the tiny bugs swarmed them.
"Where is it," Ace yelled as he continually swatted at the tiny bugs that bit at him.
The Dokunemon smiled from his position high in one of the trees. His green skin blending him into the foliage. His Mimicry having worn off.

The moment their opponent disappeared from their eyesight, Kester had to blink a few times before scanning the surrounding area. His head whipped to each side, searching among the foliage and roots for any sort of sign of him. That was when his ears picked up the sound of a loud buzzing. The multiple little bugs distracted his eyesight, and the Salamon growled loudly, shaking off his fur in an attempt to knock them off. "I'm not sure!" Kester called back.
The tiny bugs were getting on his nerve and Kester sent energy through his collar, the gold starting to spin around his neck. "Get off!" A beam of holy light came off the spinning collar, slicing through enough of the bugs for Kester to run off and up a large root. Once he was on a high enough vantage point, he made sure to scope out the whole area. It wouldn't take long before his superior eyesight would lock onto the out-of-place object. "Gotcha!" The collar once again spun, letting off a brighter light before it would be released in a beam of light directed towards the dokunemon.

Ace began cutting at the bugs with his sword. Problem was it was like trying to cut water impossible. Hi looked back at Kester as a light shown. Several of the bugs burning off and disappearing. Well that was a useful trick.
The light also caught the Dokunemon's attention and he spat out a web swinging into the same tree as the salamon as he approached. It didn't take long for the salamon to notice him. Not that it mattered he rushed at the dog only to be knocked back by a bright light. Shaking it's head it stood back up with a rumbling growl. It opened it's mouth shooting wave after wave of strings hoping to coat the dog and suffocate it.
Ace looked up that was not good at all. He brandished his sword and ran at the tree. He jumped up and dug his sword and talons in slowly using the sword as a climbing ax. The bugs still swarming him making him sputter and shake his head regularly.

If the Dokunemon had stayed where he was, it was possible Kester would have missed him. But once the small larva swung from once tree to the next, his eyesight locked onto the movement. A moving object is easier to spot then one using camouflage. He smirked once his beam of holy energy hit his target. But, that sense of accomplishment did not last long as the worm started a counter attack. Kester stumbled backwards as the web shots landed where his feet was.
Nearly slipping off the large root he was on top of, the Salamon moved to jump to the side, making a run for some kind of cover or else he'd be caught in a rather sticky situation. But, as he readied himself to jump off the high perch, his right back leg got shot, sticking onto the wood and making him land flat on his face as his jump failed. Kester groaned in slight pain and looked down at his paw, attempting to pull it out of its trap. Yet it wouldn't take long before more shots of web hit his body now that he wasn't able to move. "A-Ace!" He called out for his companion as his collar gathered more energy and let off a small beam of light in an attempt to protect his head and face from further assault.

Ace heard Kesters call. He was almost there just a few feet more. He dug his talons into the bark and swatted at the bugs around his face. Taking his sword out he stabbed the tree again. Worming his way up.
"You know what I do to little thieving beasts. I eat them alive slowly," the Dokunemon said smiling. His attention purely on the salamon as he approached.
Ace grabbed a hold of the branch his talons scraping at its side as he pulled himself up. The bugs seemed to be slowly dying off on their own. They must not have long lifespans. His heart was pounding and looked down the branch at the pair. The bug seemed to hover over the salamon menacingly. Is tail coming around to inject its venom into him.
"Not a chance bug boy," Ace said rushing the pair. He swung his sword at the surprised Dokunemon who recoiled receiving a cut across its head. It shook it's head backing up as blood leaked out obscuring his vision.
Taking the time that he bought Ace started cutting Kester free. His gaze going to the Dokunemon every few seconds watching him mend his own wound by using his webbing as a bandage. They didn't have long.

Kester's attempts to pull himself out of his sticky trap would fail miserably each time he tried. Small teeth bit into the web, pulling in an attempt to rip it away from his body. The dokunemon was getting ever closer with each passing second and Kester could feel his heart beat quicken in his chest. His heterochromic eyes would scan his surrounding area, looking for any sign of his temporary companion.
This was it. This was how he was about to die. Trapped in a mess of web and about to be poisoned by a stupid little worm. He closed his eyes and awaiting the pinprick of the sting followed by the upcoming paralysis.
But apparently this wasn't where he life would end. Before he could even think about the regrets of his life, Kester heard Ace's voice and a shriek of pain from the larva. He opened his eyes before he would wince at the swing of the hyokomon's sword. That was cutting it a bit close there... The Salamon kicked at the webbing, helping Ace free him from the trap before he dokunemon attacked again.
Once he was out and on his feet again, Kester turned to the dokunemon and quickly made a decision to charge him. If he was successful, his sleigh crash would hopefully knock them both off the branch and towards the forest floor, Kester planning on landing on top of the worm and crushing him...like the bug he was.

The Dokunemon finished bandaging himself his head coming up just in time to see the salamon charging him. He started to turn to try and sting him but his body only made it halfway before he felt the salamons head meet his body. Both of them going over the edge of the branch. He watched the trees move away from him. He spat out a thread aiming to save himself. He felt it go taunt as it grabbed onto a tree. His body being pulled down by the weight of the salamon but hanging on for dear life. His body swung back and forth straightening to let the salamon drop off.
Ace watched his stomach dropping as they dropped. He watched the dokunemon spit out its webbing and he ran along the branch towards where it stuck. He looked down to see them hanging there and he decided to cut them lose. As he cut through the webbing he noticed out of the corner of his eye Kester finishing the drop of holding on for dear life.
"I climb all the way up here just for you to go back down there," Ace complained to himself as the webbing cut through. He looked down to see the crash. "That had to hurt." he said sighing and went back to the trunk to start making his way back down.

Out of the corner of his eye, Kester saw the fine thread of webbing shoot out for the nearest branch. The Salamon immediately wrapped his paws around the bug, bracing himself for the sudden stop in their fall. His back legs kicked for some kind of grip as they swung back and forth. Glancing down at the ground, Kester timed the swinging before he let go, falling into a pile of leaves on the ground. It wasn't a huge drop, with the Dokunemon having saved possibly both of them with its webbing.
Kester climbed his way out of the leaves just in time to see Ace cutting the dokunemon down. A small wince would be seen as he watched the bug crash into the ground before he quickly ran over to where the enemy had landed. Slowly, he crouched low to the ground as he approached the body. He would make sure to be careful if he would pop up again to attack. His collar started to spin ever so slightly, letting off a soft glow as he flowed energy through it in preparation for an act of self defense.

Ace was making roughly the same progress down as he had going up. Damn these trees were way to big. He couldn't wait to be able to fly. Stuff like this would be a thing of the past.
Dokunemon lay there a bit dazed. What had happened to his webbing. It never simply broke like that. Slowly it shook its head and got up. If Kester hadn't attacked yet he'd turn to the salamon and disappear. Blending back into its environment. Then flee the area. With the two working together he had no chance of winning and he knew it.
If Kester attacked though its data would become unstable. It was growing weak and would try to make Kester motionless with its webbing so it could escape.
Either way by the time it was gone or dead Ace would have reach the ground missing it all. He'd look around slightly disappointed. He'd be ready for the bug to attack just to learn after several long minutes that it was gone.

Kester stared down at the dokunemon as it slowly came to from its rather rough fall. "Should've given us what we wanted..." Those words were spoken softly before the glowing of his collar would intensify, the whirring of the spin signaling the last sound the dokunemon would hear. Before the bug had time to disappear, Kester shot a blast of Holy energy at it, watching as he noticed its data starting to dissipate.
The Salamon turned away from the fading Digimon, making his way over to where he saw Ace climbing down the tree they were in. "If you want a meal of bug meat, might want to hurry. It will be all data, soon enough." With that said, he walked over to the pile of berries, picking one up in his mouth and crunching down on the juicy inside. "Mm... It definitely a nice loot."

The dokunemon stood there weak and unable to move. He watched the salamon move away....it wasn't going to finish him? It groaned and started crawling away.
"Jeez, I can't wait to be able to fly," Ace said hopping the last couple of feet. He looked over at the slowly crawling Dokunemon trying to escape. Ace smirked as Kester took to the berries. "Indeed it is. We'll remain fed for quite some time."
He approached the Dokunemon stepping on its back. His beak dug into the back of its neck taking a bite. Its innerds pulsed heavily filling the hole with blood. Ace took several more bites before it disappeared entirely.
"Ahh delicious," Ace said and turned to Kester.
