The soft sound of paw hitting the ground would be nothing compared to the loud buzzing of large bug-type Digimon as well as the shaking of leaves as the canopy rocked with the wind. Yet, it was deathly still near the bottom of the trunks, where roots rose like waves over the solid ground. It was like the earth were the trees themselves. A soft golden glow would be seen throughout the darkness as the small Salamon made his way under and over the large roots in his way. For some, they were like a cliffside in his way and he'd have to climb up it using small claws and teeth. Yet, he did this with ease, like he had been doing this for his whole life. And in reality, he had. The soft glow of his overly large collar guided him to where he was going and, soon enough, the trees start to disperse, becoming a tad thinner and more spread out as he continued his trek. Soon, there would be light shining through, small pin pricks in the absolute darkness of the woods he was so used to. This is where he was heading and as he got closer, the light got bigger. It was soon bright enough that Kester wouldn't need to use his collar for light so he cut off the cycle of energy he was flowing into his collar and made his way towards a particular large tree, its roots lifting up like archways as it cast its shadow into the darkness of the woods. The Salamon let his eyes adjust to the light, before he hopped from one root to the other like they were stepping stones. Once he was on the one that reached the highest, he settled down, staring out over the start of Invio. The sun shone bright against the dry plains, tall stalks of grass swaying as wind traversed the ground in a dance. Kester smiled a tad and laid down, his head resting on his front paws. It was such a contract from the other side, where everything was green and bright. Here, colors of orange and brown conquered and heat made water Digimon unable to live there. He breathed in the scent before letting out a heavy sigh, letting the tension release from his muscles. This was the only place he truly felt alone, watching out over the heat struck plains. He could even see the beginning of the desert in the distance. It was simply so...peaceful. He closed his eyes and let himself enjoy the sun's rays, a rarity to have in such a dark home. Dantelion

She loved the dried fields beside the forest. It had hundreds of wild flowers mostly small white ones and they grew back quickly. They were the most tasty too though beyond the stem was icky. Her wings buzzed slightly as she took off from the tree she roosted in. She'd have to bring a bunch back to the hive. Their queen Waspmon loves them as well.
However the trouble she'd be in or keeping the fact she leaves the forest for the food. Food outside the forest could be poisonous. At least that was the thought of the hive. They'd think she was poisoning their queen. No doubt a death sentence for sure.
She flew out into the field unaware someone else was there looking out into it. She started hovering above the grass plucking the flowers. Even eating some herself. She was happy and content as could be. Of course though even the plains had wild life. A little bird had been watching her from its nest. His egg shell body quivering in excitement at the thought of bug meat.
The hiyokomon jumped forward and kicked the Fanbeemon from the sky making her yelp in surprise. She quivered and tried getting up only to be stood upon.
"These are my plains little bee. You own me a lot for all those flowers you keep taking," Not like he was one to talk about being little.
"They are wild flowers you bully," the Funbeemon growled.
The hiyokomon scoffed at this. Mainly cause he couldn't deny she was right. He dug his heel into her head.
"Hey get off," She exclaimed earning a no in response. He seemed content to torture her.

One ear was lifting just a tad as the sound of soft buzzing reached the small white Digimon. He put it off though. He was still in the cover of the forest and so he wasn't surprised that there would be insect Digimon flying around, even in the far reaching of the border.
What did catch him, however, was was the high pinched yelp that rode on the wind to him. Hererochromic eyes opened to look out over the vast brown plains once again. After they adjusted to the sun light, Kester would quickly spot the source of the ruckus. It seemed some children had gotten into a quarrel and he growled a bit. Although he would have loved to let them settle it, his 'big brother' instinct was pulling at him. A sigh escaped his maw and the salamon stood before jumping his way down from his perch.
The grass was a tad taller then him but he found his way towards the two by how much sound they were making. Once he was able to see them through the stalks, Kester carefully made his way around hyokomon. If he wasn't caught, the Salamon would pop out behind the chicken, letting out a high-pitched bark that would, hopefully, paralyze him.
"Leave them alone!!" He would bark. If his Puppy Howl was successful, Kester would immediately follow up with a Sleigh Crash, dashing towards the hyokomon. If he was successful, he would stand between the two, the mediator of the quarrel.
If all else would fail, Kester would draw energy into his collar in preparation for a weak blast of holy energy towards his target.

The Hyokomon scoffed and was finally ready to draw his sword. All her protests covering up the sound of an approaching enemy. Suddenly and without warning right behind him was a loud barking noise. He froze more out of surprise than fear. It wasn't until he was sent crashing into the grass ahead of him that he got over it. He got up with a huff and turned looking at his foe.
"Thank you," the Funbeemon said flitting her wings slightly. She hovered just above the ground with a smile. She really was unsure of what she would of done if someone else hadn't stepped in. She looked to the Salamon then to the hyokomon. Annoyance clear on her face as she looked at him.
"What's this? You trying to steal my dinner punk," Hyokomon said growling slightly.
The fact he hadn't returned the attack yet was odd. At least to the Funbeemon....though he was also calling her food. So Odd as probably his name in her books.
"I'm not food," she huffed.
"You are to me little bug," he replied.
"We're the same size," she pointed out earning a look of indignation from him.

Once Kester had made his way between the two Child Digimon, he stared down hyokomon as the chicken stood up once more. The soft buzzing of wings behind him signaled that the fanbeemon had also gotten up, hovering behind the salamon that had protected her. Kester heard her thank him but he simply gave a small nod as a response, not taking his eyes off the more hostile of the two.
When the hyokomon accused him of stealing his 'dinner', Kester couldn't help but roll his eyes a bit and scoff. But, before he could answer, the two Digimon had, once again, started to banter at each other. The Salamon sighed, a paw coming to his head before he released another loud bark. "Enough, you two!!" It seemed to carry authority in it, the same voice he would use to get the attention of his rowdy siblings.
He turned to hyokomon first. "First of all, I don't eat bug... Second of all, why don't you go find another meal that's smaller then you and, I don't know, lives in your area." Kester then glanced behind him toward the fanbeemon. "And you. I'm sure your Queen, whoever she is, wouldn't like to know that you left the forest. Bugs don't do well without the cover of trees... You should go home..." He gave the two orders like he was much older then them. That's what happens when you have to help take care of a few younger siblings.
However, as he spoke, there was a tad annoyance in his voice. Like he wished he didn't even have to be there. All he wanted to do was relax and get away from arguments like this. Was the digital world always this annoying and petty?

The funbeemon's face looked away cowed by the salamon's authority. He sounded a lot older than her. She mumbled an apology.
"Oi, who are you to boss me around pup," the Hyokomon retorted. "I'm a fierce bird and predator of this here savanna'."
"I'll just go," the funbeemon said making for the forest. She flew high enough up that the hyokomon couldn't make a move to stop her.
"And there goes my dinner," the hyokomon said in disappointment. He turned back to the plotmon annoyed. "Well how you going to fix this?"

Kester was barely able to catch the mumbled out apology that came from behind him. His green-blue eyes glanced towards the bug before he would pick up the hyokomon's retort. Kester couldn't stop himself from laughing a bit. "Fierce bird and predator? Please. You're a chick barely out of your egg. I wouldn't doubt you're parent are real fierce but you? Not yet."
As he heard the fanbeemon announce her leave, the sound of buzzing switching from behind to above, Kester called out to tell her to "get home safe," as he watched her disappear into the darkness of the woods. His eyes found themselves once again going to the chicken and they rolls at his accusation that he would have to fix it.
Kester turned his back on the hyokomon, starting to make his way back to his vantage point. "I'm not gonna do anything. Go find another meal, Mr. Fierce Bird and Predator." It was obvious he marked his job as done and wasn't interested in continuing this conversation.

The hyokomon glared as his foe doubted his prowess. He scoffed as the Salamon rejected the idea of helping him find another meal.
"That's right my ma and pa are fierce birds. Ones that never come home 'cause they are busy being amazing predators. One day I'll fly along side them you'll see," the Hyokomon said with determination.
One day he'd fly the skies and make everyone respect him like they did his parents at one time. They had vanished long ago though. Hadn't come back from the forest. And he....he was to small and scared to go looking. As much as he hated to admit that. So he'd grow strong right here and once he could fly he'd go looking. He knew they had to be alive. Such fierce birds couldn't die.

"Oh I'm sure you will be. But that's quite a while away bud." Kester responded to the hyokomon without turning around or bothering to stop walking back towards the forest. He wouldn't be surprised if the small Digimon became powerful one day. They were all destined to at least become adults. Even he would one day be able to fly through the forest like his parents do.
Once he was out of the grass, Kester shook out his short coat. He couldn't help but feel prickly wandering through the long stalks. Looking up at the large trees, the Salamon slowly climbed his way up to his spot once again. With a sigh, he settled down onto his stomach and went back to trying to relax.

Hyokomon growled in response to him brushing him off. He followed the Salamon back into the forest and climbed on the root with him. He stood directly in the Salamons light.
"Don't treat me light a kid and brush me off. That's my job kid," Hyokomon said folding his wings. He wasn't about to let this go....his stomach rumbled slightly earning flushed cheeks. with a humph he hopped down.
"I don't have time to waste on a weakling like you. Your so scrawny you wouldn't make even a decent meal," Hyokomon huffed and started back out into the grass. His head high and his belly well beyond empty. He hoped he found something soon.

Kester groaned and pushed himself up off his stomach once the hyokomon blocked the light from Invio. He rolled his eyes at him calling the Salamon 'kid'. He was about to retort because he paused, hearing the rumbling of an empty stomach.
Almost on cue with the rumble, the hyokomon quickly made an excuse to leave, starting his hop back to the field. Kester was about to leave him but paused. He could hear his parents nagging him now about leaving the Digimon without any food. He sighed and cursed his kind upbringing before he stood and called out. "Wait! I'll help you find food. Just because you seem really hungry..."
Kester started to make his way down after the hyokomon and was quick to catch up. "But we're hunting in the woods. I don't trust open fields..." His eyes glanced around him, barely being able to see through the stalks of grass. Any adult Digimon could pick them off if they really needed to.

"Oh so now you want to help," the hyokomon scoffed. Though he couldn't really afford to refuse. "Fine then. I'll eat practically anything at this point."
He turned and looked at the forest. He had never hunted in the forest before so his stomach churned slightly in nervousness. "Lead the way kid." He said and would begin following the Salamon's lead. "I'm Ace by the way." If he was going to hunt with this salamon he may as well introduce himself.

He was about to completely give up when the hyokomon responded with hostility but before the Salamon could turn around and walk away once again, the hyokomon gave into his offer.
Kester made his way towards the forest with ease, not a falter in his step as he transitioned from the sun-soaked plains into the darkness of the woods he was so used to.
Once the light disappeared behind them enough that it was hard to see anything past them, Kester would immediately run energy through his collar, the golden metal letting off a soft glow. "Make sure you stay close. There are as many predators here then there are out there." Crawling under a large root, he stopped to make sure the hyokomon was keeping up.
"Ace, huh?" He couldn't help but give a small smile at the name. "Not sure why, but it's fitting. I'm Kester. Welcome to /my/ home, chick." Sure, he may not have known if he was older but they were in his territory now. Which meant he knew more then him in this situation.

Ace stayed as close as he dared to the salamon. He was noticeably nervous at the shadowy forest floor. He didn't like not seeing the sun. He really depended on it and now he depended on this salamons ring.
He scoffed as Kester called him chick. He wasn't a girl nor a baby. He looked around wearily waiting for these hidden predators Kester spoke of. He'd show them a good one two....he hoped. Movement off to the side of the bushes caused him to jump as something red disappeared out of sight. He gulped and bumped into Kester as he tried to put him between him and whatever had just vanished.
"Soo....what are we hunting. Kunemon, wormon....berries?" Ace asked to break the eerie silence once he was sure whatever it was was out of ear shot.

Kester couldn't help but notice the nervous demeanor the hyokomon gave off once they had traveled far away from the light he was so used to. However, he didn't bother to tease him on it. He knew very well the woods he was raised in was feared by many other Digimon. You have to live in the darkness to not fear the darkness. That's what his parents had always told him when he was afraid of the dark so many years ago. It was something he quickly learned throughout his years.
His collar jingled a bit, the light flickering slightly as Kester was taking aback at Ace backing into him. For a second they were thrown into darkness before he'd restart the flow of energy once again. "Watch yourself. It's a bit hard to multitask with you jumping at every movement you think you see." He used 'think' since he knew the darkness can play tricks on the senses. "As for what we're hunting... Berries are what I eat. My parents are the one who hunt down the big meat. But...if you really want bug that badly then let's go find some bugs."
He shouldn't have been surprised that the chicken wanted bugs instead of red meat. To be honest, Kester wasn't sure he was strong enough to bring down any of the meals that his parents brought home. A bug Digimon would be easier then trying to take down another beast or even a reptile. "Bugs hide in the wood. We need to listen for any scratches or buzzing in the trees and roots."
