"Unfortunately not....but this may have been fate you know. Us meeting like we did. I may not be a spirit but I can still help," Varim pulled away, not understanding Pips meaning. If he wasn't a spirit, how could he be speaking.
He closed the eye corresponding to the side of the cheek that was nuzzled and looked on at Pip with a red face and puffed eyes. "I love my parents dearly too I can't begin to imagine your pain...."
"I'm a digimon. Short for digital monster. Although I'm not much of a monster. Too soft,"
Unfortunately, Pip's joke did not cause Varim to laugh. He didn't understand any of it, "Digimon? Digital monster? I've never heard of that before...I must be away from the mountain. Is this...the town mother used to come too? She never spoke of talking wolves. I've lived on my mountain home for nineteen years with my wolf brothers...I've never needed to come down. I don't know much of the world." Varim looked away.
"Now...now I'm alone and without a home. Without any knowledge of the outside world. What is to become of me? Pip?" Varim turned to look at the estranged animal. "If fate has brought you to me in my time of need...does that mean you are to guide me?" He wondered, remnants of tears remained on his face, frozen.

I've lived on my mountain home for nineteen years with my wolf brothers...I've never needed to come down. I don't know much of the world." So he was like a monk? Living in the harshest weather alone and in silence with no influences from the outside world.
"Now...now I'm alone and without a home. Without any knowledge of the outside world. What is to become of me? Pip?" Pip didn't really know. "If fate has brought you to me in my time of need...does that mean you are to guide me?"
"I've lived in the tundra all my life too. I only know this place. We occasionally get humans though. I can tell you some about my world but our worlds are probably really different. I wonder how you got here anyway," Pip said questioningly. "Cause this is the digital world not Earth."

More riddles for Varim to ponder, a digital world? What could that mean, then he remembered the shining light from his necklace. He reached for it, dangling from his neck and looked at its wet screen. The device was as broken as when he found it, at least at this moment.
"When the fire was about to consume me...this token my wolf brother brought me began to shine. It blinded me and thrust me from the flames and into the snowfields. I think...I think it brought me to you. To this digital world." He wiped his thumb over its screen to clear the dampness from it. He wasn't sure if all this ice and cold had rendered it useless now.
"It has done nothing since." He looked to Pip with a sad look still on his face, "What does this mean?" He asked. His face then scrunched up and he let out a small sneeze into his arm. A small trail of mucous running down his nose and over the chapped lips.
"I...I'm sorry..." He tried to hide his face, slightly embarrassed and without tissue to clean. He was still cold and wet, perhaps he should consider asking Pip if there was a place to dry these clothes. His feet were numb and if it weren't for him moving his toes, he'd all but forget them.

Pip cocked his head Varim fondled the necklace about his neck. What was that thing?
"When the fire was about to consume me...this token my wolf brother brought me began to shine. It blinded me and thrust me from the flames and into the snowfields. I think...I think it brought me to you. To this digital world." Brought him here? A human with a strange device thrust into the digital world. It sounded a lot like a legend he was told as a pup. A story of the first humans.
"It has done nothing since." He looked to Pip with a sad look still on his face, "What does this mean?" Pip jumped at the unexpected sneeze.
"I...I'm sorry..."
"We should dry your fur. Mom says sneezing is a good sign of cold or allergies.....you aren't allergic to me are you," Pip asked his eyes going wide at the thought.

"We should dry your fur. Mom says sneezing is a good sign of cold or allergies.....you aren't allergic to me are you,"
Pip referring to Varim's clothing as fur caused a small smile appear at the corner of his mouth. "This isn't fur, we call them clothes. They're supposed to act the same as fur and shield from the cold. However, your snowfields are much denser and colder then my old home so they did not do well." He looked at himself, scanning with an eye. His body was going numb, he was still slowly freezing.
"Fair Pip, you are not wrong. These articles do need to be dried, is there a place I can put them? I'll need to undress and hang them. If I stay dressed in these any longer, I may freeze again. I have lost feeling in my feet, I believe they're buried under water and snow. Though this is your home and I do not know your rules."
Varim became concerned when he felt what was like grains of sand on his flesh. The feeling of numbness. Blood had not been through his feet for the past hour, any longer and it was possible he'd get frost bite. He didn't want to undress without Pips permission however.

"We don't take off our fur," Pip replied. "But I am sure it is okay. You'll probably just look funnier than you already are." Pip smiled his tail wagging as he slide out of his arms to watch him with a cocked head. "It doesn't hurt?"

"We don't take off our fur," Pip replied. "But I am sure it is okay. You'll probably just look funnier than you already are." Pip smiled his tail wagging as he slide out of his arms to watch him with a cocked head. "It doesn't hurt?"
Again Varim had to smile, it appeared that Pip was as ignorant to humans as he was to digimon. "No it does not hurt Pip. Not unlike you, humans are born with just skin. You quickly grow in fur whereas humans have hair in only select parts of our body. To help us stay warm and protected we wear woven cloth into clothes. It is not a part of us. Oh, the difference between hair and fur is that your fur grows to a select length and hair continually grows and grows. So we cut it regularly to keep it short and manageable."
Varim stood after finishing his explanation, hoping that clarified things for Pip. Varim began to undress himself, he pulled off his brown boots that were soaked and dripping. He placed them against the wall and out of the way. His white socks had turned completely grey as a result of the water they had absorbed and he removed those next, laying them out next to his footwear.
He wriggled his toes and smiled at them. They were still numb, but they had not grown black and were safe from frost bite. He pulled at his left sleeve, pulling his arm towards his wet body. Varim took a moment, removing his necklace and leaned down towards Pip with it smiling. He put it around Pips neck for safekeeping. He didn't say a word and straightened himself up, working his hidden hand to help his other through the sleeve until it was hidden from sight.
He poked his arms out from the bottom of his shirt and pulled the wet fabric from his soft pinkish skin. He worked it up and over his head. It stuck a few times before it finally came free. His chest and stomach had a very soft muscle tone, enough build from living in the mountains but nothing more then that. The remaining droplets of water rushed down the flesh of his torso to the feint crevices of his abdominals, gathering at his inward naval. Without any hair to speak of, he was decently wet. Not a drop could be absorbed.
Varim took a moment to place his wet shirt over his wet boots as spread out as he could. He placed his hand around his waist, unbuttoning the front of his pants. He pulled the two flaps apart until the middle spread as far apart as it could. They became loose enough that a small push and his pants fell to his ankles. An audible squish from the dampness in them. He stood now in boxer shorts, a bulge at its center every time the fabric brushed against something still hidden. His lower belly and hip indentation lines curving into the last remaining article, almost like an arrow drawing the eye to the mystery behind it.
His boxers dripped at their base, water running down Varims legs, passing over the near invisible hairs. He stepped out of his pants and bent at the knee to collect them. He held them up, and laid them out over his shirt and boots. Varim placed a thumb into his boxers waistline, pulling them away from his hips. He slowly worked the wet fabric down his waist line, passed his well hung groin and soft buttocks. He finally got them off and laid them against his other clothes. He turned to look at Pip, his body still dripping wet from the articles.
The young wet male smiled at his new digimon friend, "See? This is what we really look like underneath. No fur." He looked back at his clothes a moment.
"They should really be hung on something...they're going to wet your floors. I'm sorry. Not that I am any drier...or warmer." Varim said feeling the cold air on his nakedness. His lack of embarrassment or worry was testament of his comfort being around Pip. He had been naked around his own wolves his whole life that even a sentient one such as Pip still felt normal.

"Humans are so weird," Pip said smiling. He watched with a tilted head. Curious more than anything. He had to wonder how such frail looking beings came to exist. Then again if it was anything like digimon it was through baby making.
Pip looked to the necklace cocking his head at it as he examined the strange device. He looked up at Verim suddenly remembering his moms words. Your neck will get stuck that way if you tilt it too much.
Pip slowly felt his head tilting to the side again however as he watched. Definitely not a girl; not enough nipples. He had to wonder if his skin looked similar without fur. He felt his head tilt farther with each thought as he took in his body. He wondered if he was handsome for his species.
"See? This is what we really look like underneath. No fur." He looked back at his clothes a moment.

"Hmm," Pip looked around then at the kitchen. It had a few hooks to one side of the fridge. "My dad occasionally hangs fresh meat there. It should be okay to hang them there for today."
"I'd say sit closer to the fire but given your last reaction maybe not a good idea," Pip said then thought of something. The blanket he put over it to hide it. "I'll be right back." He said heading upstairs to his room. He dragged down another blanket.
"Look away from the fireplace a moment," he said. Then pulled the warm blanket off revealing the fire before placing the new one on. He dragged the warm one over for Verim to put around his shoulders. "Better?"

"Hmm," Varim continued to watch Pip.
"My dad occasionally hangs fresh meat there. It should be okay to hang them there for today."
Varim looked a moment at the kitchen then turned gathering his clothes, being sure to leave the boots where they were. He walked into the kitchen and began to hang his clothes evenly. Spreading them out so that the drying would be most effective, he wondered if he should have wrung them out first though.
"I'd say sit closer to the fire but given your last reaction maybe not a good idea," Pip said then thought of something. The blanket he put over it to hide it. "I'll be right back."
"Alright." Varim calls out, the cold air against his wet skin caused him to shiver as he waited patiently for Pip to return. Taking a seat on the pillow, he laid his legs out. He watched the pup scuttle down the steps with a small blanket.
"Look away from the fireplace a moment," Varim did as he was instructed, hiding away his face. He then felt a small blanket cover his shoulder and back, leaving most of his body exposed but it was definitely a nice change in temperature.
"Better?" Varim smiled and reached his hand out, finding Pip's sweet spot behind his ear again. "It is a bit, the kind gesture is appreciated Pip." He stopped after a moment and looked to his legs.
"You remind me a lot of my wolf brothers, when they were puppies. I took care of them even though I was a child myself. You're cute and have the same spot behind the ear they did." Varim's face soured, his smile fading behind his sad expression. "I'll never see them again..." He looked back to Pip, tears pooling in his eyes. "We used to sit together, like this. Sometimes I'd take them on my lap and we'd just watch the snow fall."

Pip leaned into his ear scratches as he listened. "I am sure they were happy; to the very end because they had you," Pip responded placing his front paws on his knee. "They don't regret a thing and neither should you. Be happy you had them as long as you did and honor them by continuing to make wonderful memories like that. Cause I am sure that is all they would want."

"I am sure they were happy; to the very end because they had you," Varim took to heart Pips words. He had always been told that a life was as meaningful as the love surrounding it. Words his mother had told him when a bird he had found in the forest had died while he tried to nurse it from illness.
"They don't regret a thing and neither should you. Be happy you had them as long as you did and honor them by continuing to make wonderful memories like that. Cause I am sure that is all they would want." Varim's smile returned as he looked over Pip. His paw on his leg felt comforting.
"Yes, I think you're right. For whatever reason, I was spared their fate and my parents. I don't think it is coincidence that we happened upon each other Pip. I don't know where life will lead me now. I wouldn't even know where to begin but I'm happy to have met someone like you." He placed his hand on top of his paw.
"Thank you Pip for what you've done for me this day. I will remember it always." Varim turned his attention towards the warm glow of the hidden flame. A small chill running through his body. Even this was enough to instill fear in his soul.
His body trembled a little, "Do you mind...if I hold you Pip? I'm still frightened. The memories...of it all haunt me. Wolves...their strength had always helped me cope with fear when I was younger." His hand slightly gripped Pips paw tighter, shaking slightly in its grip.

"Not at all," Pip said smiling. He nudged his way under his arm and curled into his lap. The human's smooth skin feeling odd but rather nice. He lay his head up on his leg and his back against his hips and groin. It was like a small den the way he could curl into the dip of his lap. Pips tongue came out as it curled in a yawn.
"Is there anything you want to know about this world? I don't know much but I know my parents stories," Pip said his tail thumping at Verim's heel.

"Not at all," Varim watched as Pip made his way onto his lap. His skin immediately enjoying the soft touch of his fur against it. He curled into his lap and lay against his loins. Varim placed one hand around Pips side, towards his stomach. He began to rub his stomach like he used to do his wolves, he remembered how they'd tap him with their foot as he did. Varim used his other hand against Pips head, stroking it back and forth and over his ears. Pips presence was calming and it made the fire seem like only a nightmare.
He felt different though from the other wolves, for some reason Pip felt more comforting. Being near him brought an overwhelming sense of peace. Why?
"Is there anything you want to know about this world? I don't know much but I know my parents stories,"
Varim remained silent a moment, reflecting on his thoughts. He never stopped his petting of Pip, even working in behind the ears. "Usually I find the beginning always the best starting point." Varim said.
His body was still relatively wet and dripped on Pip every now an then, though his fur against his body was already damped by taking on the water from his legs and groin. "What is this place...and what are you? Who are you Pip?" Varim asked.

"Usually I find the beginning always the best starting point." The beginning huh. He was in for a long story if he wanted the origin of digimon. Pip rolled over slightly to expose his belly more to his bpetting.
"What is this place...and what are you? Who are you Pip?" Varim asked.
"I am Pip," he answered smiling. "But if your asking my species I am a Docemon. A simple digimon just living his life and trying to learn what he can so that when I am reborn I'll be a little smarter." Of course that probably brought up even more questions. Honestly he didn't think much of himself but when there wasn't much to someone then they could always improve. There was a reason he was going to go adventuring. No one would hire him here. He was too clumsy or too much of a trouble maker. It honestly was never his fault but he got blamed on since his siblings could make quick getaways leaving him behind. He didn't feel bad for it though. He got pretty good about making things up to protect his brother and sister and knowing how to apologize a lot for it.
"The digital world was made by our lonely Goddess Yggdrassil. At first we came from eggs and when we died we turned back into them. Now though when one dies they go to the spirit world and rest in this big river. After their time is up they are released back into this world to be born again," Pip started.
"Our world wasn't always like this. It has been reset a few times. All of us normal digimon being erased and reformed. One thing was constant though and that was humans. Humans aren't from our world but they have defended it many times. Because if our world dies so does Earth. Kind of a scary thought if you think about it," Pip said and shivered slightly for emphasis. "I've only seen a few humans. Not many come this far north because of the cold. You know what W.A.D.A. might be able to help you with a lot of things. Since you came with out a knapsack they might give you clothes and stuff."

"I am Pip,"he answered smiling. "But if your asking my species I am a Docemon. A simple digimon just living his life and trying to learn what he can so that when I am reborn I'll be a little smarter."
So despite Pips appearance to his wolves, he lived a life just like humans did. Just getting by, but to be reborn? What a strange thing that was.
"The digital world was made by our lonely Goddess Yggdrassil. At first we came from eggs and when we died we turned back into them. Now though when one dies they go to the spirit world and rest in this big river. After their time is up they are released back into this world to be born again," Pip started.
Varim listened to it all, at some point his arm pulling Pip closer against him, what interesting things digimon and this digital world was. Being Digital though, he wondered what that meant exactly.
"Our world wasn't always like this. It has been reset a few times. All of us normal digimon being erased and reformed. One thing was constant though and that was humans. Humans aren't from our world but they have defended it many times. Because if our world dies so does Earth. You know what W.A.D.A. might be able to help you with a lot of things. Since you came with out a knapsack they might give you clothes and stuff."
Varim's rubbing of Pip's belly never stopped but he was resting his hand on the back of his neck now as Pip finished his story. He reflected on what he had heard and admittedly he didn't really understand it. Still, humans were here as well and they may be able to help as Pip had suggested.
"It was a nice tale Pip, though I don't really get it. Your world sounds complicated, I'm not good with complicated things. I don't much know about my own world or anything going on in it." Varim admitted.
"I'm not really comfortable in crowds...I find animals easier to be around then people, but I guess if we have to find these other humans, it can't be helped."
