Testing the Limits

Talvi felt the vacuum and knew that it was over. Her blade dissipated its air becoming apart of the tornado that now rushed towards her. Its suction pulling her in and rending feathers from her flesh. She cried out from the pain as she felt like she was going to be ripped limb from limb. It wasn't real and yet it could be felt with every fiber of her being.

"Uninitialize, quit..... Stop," she screamed at the top of her lungs. It took a moment but suddenly she felt herself on the floor. Her breath stolen from her as she gasped for the air that the tornado had stolen. She coughed and rolled over dry heaving as the world spinned. It had robbed her of all feeling of up and down and now it was all she could do to stop herself from vomiting and making a mess all over training area.

She lay there gasping her eyes closed and buried into the pad. A dull ache settling into her bones. She banged the side of her fist against the padding and silently cursed. She was still so weak as to let a damn wyrm defeat her. What if she had to face a dragon? They were ten times stronger and spat fire. She has enough video games to know that she needed to improve. How did one improve in games.....leveling, training stats, and getting better equipment. She was training and her stats were getting better she knew it. She had given the beast a run for its money for awhile. How could she improve her equipment? 

She had read the books while the request to join had been set up. Digimon digital monsters at a certain point in their lives may evolve into a grander version upon choosing to do so. Many digimon are born evolved but many have to earn the right to evolve and become stronger. Because of the need to get stronger to evolve it has lead to countless battles over territory and resources. 

She had to evolve somehow. But how? Evolving wasn't an exact science as of yet what little she did read said it was often times brought on by strong emotions. Her emotions were strong so her body probably wasn't strong enough to handle it yet. She silently cursed herself yet again and remained where she was resting.

Talvi lay there close to an hour waiting for her aches to dull farther and her body to become use to the ground. Though it still felt like she was floating in the clouds. It was like that feeling one gets if one is in the water for two long then lay back down like the ground is still moving. She finally sat up slowly then stood with a faint grunt. Alright different enemy but same song.

"Level thirty-five, Funbeemon, initialize," Talvi barked. She had been even with the level forty. So a little lower and she was sure she could beat it. She evolved and waited for the scene to finish creating itself. With bee in the name she again assumed it could fly.

The system whirred to life once more, and Talvi soon found herself in a lush green forest. It felt just like what a forest would feel, once again showing how impressive the virtual hub could be. The canopy wasn't thick enough to hide the sun and it was blaring down. The birds were singing in the air and their was a nice breeze blowing through the branches. It felt good as it rustled her feathers. The serenity of it all was nice, but then came a buzzing, a decently loud buzzing. It reared itself from the trees, it's cute appearance wasn't that alarming as it glared down Talvi.

"Gear Stinger!" It cried wasting no time in shooting out five stingers in rapid succession. They were aimed squarely at Talvi's stomach.

Talvi took to the air as the buzzing grew. Suddenly the small insect was within sight and wasting no time. Its stingers shot out at her and she countered with her wind blades. Tossing far more at it than what it had fired at her. Her blades angled to follow it as it fluttered around. If it tried charging her she would start singing to lessen its movements before trying to cut it in two with a wind blade.

If her blades seemed unable to hit the from afar she would fly closer to release more close range or even claw at it. Being careful to keep an eye on its stinger to make sure and avoid it should it shoot another.

The Funbeemon's stingers were easily deflected by Talvi's wind blade. The Funbeemon began to fly away, surprised by the Harpymon's ability to overpower it's stingers. It dodged left and right using it's quick movements to avoid the wind blades, hiding behind trees to avoid others.

The Funbeemon was to quick to hit from afar so Talvi got closer and the insect turned trying to attack with it's stinger but was instead hit by Talvi's claw. The digimon let out a pained cry as the talons ripped into it's body, drawing blood. The force of the attack sent it into a tree. The digimon slid down the tree and looked up at Talvi, it glared at her. It would be impossible for it to defeat such a powerful foe. Not alone anyway, "88 Call!" The Funbeemon cried. Its antenna began to move and sent out an S.O.S. call throughout the forest.

Suddenly, there was a loud buzzing in the air. It sounded like multiple wings were buzzing, at that point, it wasn't to hard to tell what it was that the Funbeemon had done. It quickly took to the skies from the tree and within moments, the forest canopy was filled with the sight of Funbeemon. All of them were heading towards Talvi and an easy fight, had just become dangerously difficult.

They began to circle Talvi from above, their united buzzing drowning out any song she may try to sing. Then with slightest budge from Talvi, the entire swarm pointed their stingers at her and fired their Gear Stinger attack. The air was soon filled with numerous stingers falling down towards Talvi.

A total of fifty stingers began to rain down towards her.

Talvi gazed up at the sky the buzzing noise growing louder with each passing second until it became dappled with black spots in the sky. Dozens of funbeemon littered the sky and Talvi silently cursed herself. Why did she always have to pick loosing battles? She had the worst luck with this accursed machine.



Talvi remained hovering in place only releasing her blades at the ones coming directly at her. Her blades knocking groups of the stingers away. A few just barely grazing her. As soon as her vision was clear she launched dozens of blades into the swarm. Not really aiming but scattering them in a wide array. Her gaze sometimes going to the original waiting for its attack. She remained on the offensive her blades aimed to scatter and prevent the bees from counter attacking.

The Funbeemon did scatter from her blades, they were far enough away that they were able to avoid and quickly tried to gather together. They continued to scatter as she aimlessly shot forth her wind blades. The original used the brush of trees to hide, biding its time. It stayed within range of Talvi, but only darted from her vision when she looked away. Now that she had lost track of it, he'd fire out three Gear Stingers, aimed at her left side.

The swarm above once they saw the attack, were instructed by the original to attack as well. The twenty Funbeemon aimed their stingers and fired from above towards her hoping this pincer attack would be enough to harm her.

The moment Talvi lost sight of the original she knew it would be pointless to search for it. She would have to make the bug come to her. She flew upwards straight at the swarm above. Blades of wind shot from her wings to carve a path. A few more stingers grazing her and adding to the cuts. She stopped right in the middle and spun as she released dozens more into the fray. She didn't spin for long however not risking becoming dizzy. She then flew above them placing herself on the high ground for a better position. Gravity would slow and lessen the distance those stingers could cover.

The swarm scattered once more, avoiding her blades. The original FunBeemon watched her take to the skys and now hovered above the swarm. He glared at the Harpymon and moved his antenna, talking to the swarm. Within moments, the insects flew down out of the sky and the original flew out from his hiding spot to meet them.

The FunBeemon encircled the original and flew closely together, acting as a single unit. The swarm began moving in unison towards Talvi, none of them missing a beat of their wings as they moved flawlessly as one. If Talvi tried to attack then, they would combine their stingers, and fire them concentrated at one point. Together, they'd be able to break through Talvi's attacks and continue moving forward.

Should she move, they'd continue to pursue her until they were close enough that they would shoot their stingers.

Talvi watched with a glare. She shot out one wind blade testing their reaction. dozens of stingers met it breaking the blade apart. She silently cursed and eyed them. They were ten times stronger together like they are than apart. Her song wouldn't work and neither would her blades like this. She frowned then dove at them changing direction at last minute when their stingers were shot.

She would then toss her blades into the fray and dive for the ones nearest to her when they broke. Her talons aimed to rend them. Hit or miss she would fly back up and continue to fly up if they decided to chase her until she was well out of their range. She would then turn back around and stare at them planning a repeat.

The colony of insects shot forth their stingers, reacting to Talvi when she dived. She flew off to the side and shot out her wind blade. The Funbeemon moved to avoid it. Part of the colony going up, and the other down just enough for it to pass harmlessly between them.

Talvi quickly reacted, rending the one closest too her. It cried momentarily before disappearing in a show of 0s and 1s. The colony shot out their combined strength, but Talvi wasted no time flying into the sky.

They pursued, but they couldn't follow all the way. Given their anatomy, they could not go as high as her. She was high in the clouds now and the child level Digimon were hovering just above the canopy.

They decided to retreat for now, into the trees where they hid. Talvi would have to come back down now and face them, wherever they may be.

Talvi looked down at the bugs as they vanished into the canopy. She couldn't go diving in like before they may try to surround her and cut off her means of escape. However she couldn't fly forever. She would have to clear the trees it was all fake anyway. She flew down diving slightly with her arms crossed building up as much energy as she could in them to release two great big blades to cut off the tops of the trees. She repeated this a few times before retreating to watch their movements. If they scattered then she could pick them off one by one. If they grouped together in the clearing they were back to square one.

Either way she would follow the same hit and run technique she used before.
